FIVE GRAND?? no idea what trim or miles, but that sounds insulting for a 2nd gen Tacoma. Even if it is in your fancy USD

I know. They stated the engine was shot, the rear suspension needed A LOT of work, the tires were toast and 4X4 where far less desirable to the hot selling "Prerunners" that eveyone wants. Engine shot? It leaks oil a bit at the timing cover. I fixed that problem. The rear suspension had the non-TSB springs. Got the dealer there to change them before I drove it back. The tires were actually worn and cracked. Put on some new KO2s. Just 4 months earlier it had it's 110K mile service. All fluids replaced, spark plugs, filters, you name it. 114K is on the clock now.

I can't imagine preferring a prerunner in BC terrain, and from what I have seen WA is pretty similar. Sounds like that dealer was feeding you some bull. Good decision to keep that truck in the family!

The truck was bought in Las Vegas and attempted to be traded in Tucson, AZ. There are a lot of PreRunners there. When buying new, 4X4 is harder to find. Here in Seattle, it's the exact opposite. The 2007 is now back in Las Vegas.

Now you know why they call them stealerships!

Took it up to the N. Georgia mountains this weekend for a friend's wedding. Had some fun on the mountain roads.

I honestly think that filter can last for 100K as long as corrosive fluids or vapors don't get into it. I may be wrong, but I believe the filter deteriorates when people inadvertently get cleaning fluid, fuel or oil into the filter. From there, the plastic breaks down and the filter crumbles. I've seen it 100 times on lawn mower filters (which are about the same type). Also, heat plays a big issue in making the filter brittle over time. Considering it's just a few snaps and one screw; I'm shocked that Toyota doesn't have "pump filter check" as part of the oil change service. It's a 30 cent part, they should just replace it every 15K.

Bumper looks great to me, not sure why anyone would not like it. The lines are much cleaner than other similar bumpers.
Not so sure about the red toyo emblem on a silver/black truck, but hey man, rock it!

To clarify, I seem to see a lot of 1 ton diesels with colored diff covers and bed stacks and stretched tires.

It was a "hey I have extra red paint" kinda thing, I thought it would look better but turned out looking like Rudolph, going to color match it to the silver
