it never mattered to me (i.e. JD Powers) but seems you were using it as a proof.

Unsurprisingly, the list is mostly GM, FCA, & Ford. Not a single Toyota model.

Brand loyalty is simply stupid. Follow the numbers. Try on some logic. What cars last the longest???? Which ones breakdown most often?
If Toyota's start falling apart I will stop buying them. Use common sense and save your own money rather than using a car manufacturer as a part of your self identity.

a "law" that notes that if an online discussion degrades long enough...someone eventually will compare something to Hilter or national socialism which tends to end or minimize further discussion.

If it were just JD Power with Tacoma issues id agree with you but essentially every single major respected automobile /truck review source out there has the Third Gen pegged as having reliability issues.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

Initial quality is relevant for manufacturing. Cars are built to last. What generally prevents them from lasting are manufacturing defects or poor maintenance. Manufacturing defects will generally show up right away, i.e. within the first 90 days. There is a rule of thumb in engineering, if it doesn't break right away it is likely to last it's design life.

NASA stress tests the actual satellite to be launched before launching it. Same principal, if the satellite withstands the stress tests it will likely survive the launch and life in space.

how are these JD powers and what not awards financed? They mean nothing to me, as I have always figured it was just marketing shit anyways.

And here we see many of the issues are cropping up in the first 10k to 20k miles

And yet after over 20k miles, my Taco made in the same assembly line as everyone else is still running trouble free, all pieces are together and by this time my '08 GM POS was falling apart already. So much for J.D. powers if you ask me.

The 3rd Gen hasnt been around long enough to make such claims. JD Powers is a joke right along with Consumer Reports.

Btw, the 18 Colorado just now has trailer assist, upgraded radio, and heated mirrors. Oh and two new colors to match the Tacoma's most popular ones. Oh wait, my Tacoma already has all that stuff. Maybe you should get off the pot and make your move now.

But this is where you're wrong. The third gen has had a lot of reliability issues this is exactly the type of data and feedback not only JD Power used to draw their conclusions but also Consumer Reports and others. They used real world feedback from users and from dealerships on the volume and frequency of issues. We've seen plenty of samples of these issues mirrored here on the forums. Just because a dozen people here have had problem free experiences doesn't mean there aren't issues with the product.

Just because you don't agree with the results or because you don't like the outcome does not refute the evidence.

As always said on here, it is a new model so problems are to be expected.

Only reliability issues i have seen are cps and weeping seal which are easily fixed.
Has whine of diff when feathering in some been proven to be defect ? I mean when you change it multiple times and its exactly the same you think and look otherwise really.
This is minor stuff imo that gets a lot of beer talk.

Its not a giant conspiracy against Toyota all of the sudden but the sense of denial from some is strong. The truth hurts I guess.:notsure:

I get it. People are often defensive of their choices and investments (financial and emotional)
