That's one hint I miss about old Dodge. They'd put V8's in everything.

I hope it doesn't have the stupid taillights with the X's in them. Can't stand the look of those.

My sister has a 2009 JK and It's fun for an afternoon with the top down but I hate driving it. Feels like a giant brick and not comfortable at all. Sure it has 33 mud terrains on it because my sister thinks they look cool but I dislike driving jeeps. Tacos are better.

Recently driving a 99 and an 09 wranglers... Tacomas are maybe not as offroad capable in some areas, but the Tacoma has the comfort level that's wayyyyyy better than the Wranglers. I hate driving wranglers on the road. Feels like driving bricks and the ride is rough. Tacos for the win.

Man, do I miss that inline 4.0... that was one of the best engines I've ever driven. You talk about low end torque... I could idle up the Smokey Mountains in my old Wrangler. I loved that engine and wish they'd bring it back. With the exception of needing a ton of motor oil, it was just awesome.

The brick feeling is what I don't like the most about the jeeps, on top of everything having a more vertical posture. Im sure it caters to many with this set up, but I feel the taco is more relaxed for long drives.

We recently just got rid of a 99 3 speed automatic with the 4.0. The thing got up and went and had tons of low end torque but overall Jeep driving experience is just sub par. Uncomfortable.

I never understand how people can say a test mule is ugly or not. At any rate, it will probably have way more cajones than the current Tacoma which in 2016 was not even a clean sheet redesign. In a sense the gen 3 Tacoma is already stale and will be until 2026 or so more than likely.

Agree with this. Actually think this will look bad ass with a green or sand colored paint and some pizza cutter KM2s

This is positive if you ask me... In 2019 the new ranger and the Jeep are dropping. Just means Toyota is probably planning some cool upgrades for that year. Don't buy the 2018 ;) you'll regret it

This is Toyota we're talking about. They don't react to market innovations. They hold out and tell people the end result is higher quality/dependability/reliability. So far, hasn't been the case for the turd gen.

We shall see... I bet no TRD pro in 2018 and no major changes, and then an improved transmission in 2019 with a sweet TRD Pro update

Comparing a Wrangler to a Tacoma is Apples and Oranges, totally different vehicles.

i just found this thread...these types of threads always amuse me. never once have i though another truck in the tacomas class could be superior to it. just look how long the tacoma has been around. its only getting better too, although some may argue that

redneck pinstriping, various stickers, not 1 but 2 glade air fresheners because I fart a lot.
Jeep? Pshh... they should come free with a Happy Meal a heap of plastic stuck to a crap frame and ever worse drivetrain. I'd have to cut my balls of before sitting in a Patriot and the Grand Cherokee is a huge hit with the Medicare crowd.

I agree that the Tacoma is a superior all around truck, but I would really consider getting the Jeep if they offered a single cab with a 6' bed or longer.

but why not just get a long bed tacoma?
