different angle, different time of day/night. The gas station would have had to get the emergency shutoff button replaced asap, and the screenshot from the video in the second pic is later at night. Both of those pics you have are directly from the video, so if they are not the same, then its fake news.

I'm calling BS on this lady. There are multiple things that all have to go wrong for this situation. Its almost impossible. If is was in park the transmission the pawl slides into the teeth on the output shaft locking it into place. The computer would recognize the foot on the brake ("break") and not allow it to accelerate that hard. She needs to accept responsibility and deal with her own insurance.

Years ago my son put the 4runner over a low berm and through a chain link fence while pulling into a parking spot.

He swears his right leg had fallen asleep. Funny how he had no problems with slowing to turn into the parking lot and managing the three turns to get to that spot...

Just 'cuz a person claims something happened a certain way doesn't mean it did.

Heh, certainly a possibility though not very likely at that specific location.

I figured it was just basic dumbassery of some sort that he didn't want to own up to. Since he paid for the repairs, including the fence, I saw no benefit to calling him out on it. More fun to let him sit and wonder if we'd really believed him.... :D

This is lol. I had my foot on the brake, and the engine not only surged (in park no less), but it overpowered the brakes and crashed into the wall.....:boom:

I got my muck boot stuck between the gas and brake pedal on my second gen once. My foot was on the brake firmly, but just on the right edge of the brake pedal, somehow the right edge of my boot slipped down past the left edge of the accelerator and mashed it down as I was backing into my garage.... I did a slight burnout before I realized what was happening. I drive in boots everyday, so it's not like I'm not used to it, it just happened. Had I hit the back wall of my garage it wouldn't have been the fault of Toyota.... it would have been driver error, despite being an accident.

That has happened to a lot of people. But unlike you, they don't accept responsibility and try to Sue the auto manufacturer for damages.

I realized what was happening pretty quick and didn't hit anything. I tilted my foot towards the brake and slid it away from the gas pedal. People panic and then something bad happens... then they look for someone (anyone but theirselves) to blame. Some people are just sue-happy anyways, people are ridiculous.

There may be something to this folks. I have a 16 Tacoma. My truck has sometime had a lunge forward feeling just a bit as I put it in park. The rpm's surges just a little. I don't feel like the tires actually rolled any? It has happened enough that I hold the brake tight as I put it in park. Have you ever held the brake and gave it some throttle like in drag racing? You feel the car/truck torque. That's the feeling I have when it happens. After reading this, I just asked my wife if she has ever noticed anything about the Tacoma when putting it in park, without mentioning this article. She has experienced it too. Has anyone felt this at all?
