Nah. I've explained MANY times why I am "sticking" with the Tacoma for now. I will ride it out until I get about 2 years left on the extended warranty or until the depreciation curve flattens out. If jumping vehicles every 2 to 3 yrs was my goal I would have leased it to begin with.

No my friend... that is not persistence....that's the very definition of idiocy, laziness, or both. I can persistently punch myself in the nuts. which is sort of what you're doing by keeping your truck, based on what you say day in and day out LMAO.

Nah if I was lazy and irresponsible I'd just go piss away 4 or 5 grand in equity and trade it.

That argument is invalid because by some accounts you put money into your truck. New shocks or whatever. You already pissed away your money. I mean if you wanna deny that you can right now since I have you here.

OEM shocks were leaking at 23K anyway. I explained the rationale behind this modification which you can read about in the write-up link under my signature.

Sure, I'll do that after lunch, though if you paid extra for aftermarket it would be very difficult for me to understand your justification.

Point is Smitty, no one likes people that try and make others around them miserable. It's interesting for a while then it gets old. The fact you call it persistence and don't recognize your being a dick means you either got your head up your ass or you're an idiot. Now....I don't believe you're an idiot, so it's gotta be the former. Explains why you're justifications sound funny.

Btw....cars are not equity. They depreciate. Yeah you'll lose money selling it now. You'll also lose money keeping it and potentially putting more fixes on it, since you're convinced it'll break down at anytime. Sell it now and lose 4k as opposed to selling it a year later and losing more. It absolutely makes no sense keeping it longer.

In short I use the truck for hunting and occasional guide services. It sees an extensive amount of time on both maintained AND unmaintained forest and ranch roads. I wanted something that would improve the ride off-road. I didn't even change out the tires yet. This wasn't a lift for aesthetics it was all about functionality.

Understood, but still disagree. I still would've just sold it immediately then put the shocks on the new car. You still lose money not taking advantage of warranty.

you could have had the leaky shocks replaced under warranty, if they really leaked at all. but instead you invested over $2000 dollars into a lift kit in the truck that you call a Turd, doesn't add up to the truth

I call it like I see it and if that causes you to think I'm a dick, fine. I'm obviously not here to try and win friends. I'm simply stating my observations and experiences. If what I share helps someone, great. People deserve to get a variety of experiences and opinions from others' points of view. If you want to drink the koolaid and pump sunshine that's your prerogative.

Your experience is truth. Extrapolating experience to others, that is not truth. Just like how my trouble free experience is just one data point out of many. Using relative statements to make absolute generalizations is also faulty. No one denies your experiences and sharing, just your conclusions.

So like you I call it how I see it. No sunshine and daisies here. If my truck has an issue this is the first place I come to. Just pointing out flawed logic :)

Jesus, lay off Smitty man! The guy knows what he's talking about.

I was frustrated by his posts a year ago when I first bought my truck, but I've since come to realize that the quality isn't quite what I expected for ~$40k. It's not major stuff, but it's there and I Ishouldn't have to deal with when paying $40k for a truck. When my drum brakes started squeaking at 5k miles and my A-pillar started rattling I started to pay more attention to Smitty's posts. These minor issues that are indicative of a deterioration in quality are WIDESPREAD. I haven't heard a dash rattle like mine since I drove in my mom's Dodge Minivan 25+ years ago. I think I get it fixed and there's a new rattle/buzz that was covered up by the louder one.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck, but these little issues are quality-related. I didn't expect to have a rattling dash, howling diff, and squeaky brakes on a new $40,000 Toyota. My previous Nissan sedan didn't have any of these quality issues.

These Tacomas are faced with an inordinate amount of quality and reliability issues and this is backed up by facts. I've provided citations to major and credible sources to this effect; you're free to do the same for your own opinions and conclusions. Right now you're just chasing your own tail.

My apologies, maybe that was a bit strong. Doesn't change my overall point. Again my friend, you got unlucky. However every redesign has pains. I just haven't seen enough evidence to agree with his conclusions. It doesn't diminish how shitty it is for people that have issues, I'm just looking at the bigger picture.

And this is where I disagree. I don't call them credible. But if this is the sticking point we can agree to disagree. And I can say the same to you.

Come back in a year... and tell me I'm unlucky.

You're the one who's being a dick. We all want to feel like the $40k was money well spent... sometimes it's hard to accept the truth. LIke I said, it's a great truck and I love it, but the quality isn't quite to level I expected when dropping 4 large.
