Dude, are you a fucking lawyer? I thought you were a programmer or some shit. You sure like to argue.

If Toyota's quality decreases by x%, it is not a reasonable assumption to assume that other manufacturer's quality decreases by x%. You are begging the question here. It would be more accurate to assume other manufacturer's quality decrease by y%.

Perhaps Toyota shit the bed and X > Y. Perhaps X = Y. Hard to say, but you can't use your conclusion to argue your point.

Shit man, I thought you were Mister Logic?

    I suppose
Oh my God. What is going on here? Can you read? Did any of us ever say we made an assumption that other man. quality decreased by x BECAUSE Toyota decreased by x? No silly, we merely noted the industry trend FIRST, then said okay, this might explain some of Toyota's decline.

You're not even making sense lol. And what is my conclusion exactly? I didn't make any, fyi, I just set up the argument.

Please learn to read before you math.

I love how when people's arguments get deconstructed they resort to irrelevant comments to save face. So what if I'm a lawyer. Please read the words in the message and take in the points, then construct a counter point. Everything else is irrelevant. Or you can be like Smitty and dip out because he realized none of what he does makes sense.

Lets cut all the talking in circles crap...
If you hate the truck, get rid of it.
If you love it, keep it.

If you have though over all the variables and have decided to keep it, stop the incessant bitching.

This forum is quickly becoming more annoying than it is worth in mod ideas. Too many people determined to ensure no one else is happy with their purchase.

I won't deny that. But doesn't change the content of my message. I tend to get irritated when people stop making sense, including myself ;)

Children's behaviours and abilities are not built at an assembly line, to an engineered spec. Not even remotely a valid analogy.

Look, the options for Toyota were rather simple: improve the Tacoma to a level that consumers will be happy with and cut corners where necessary (that will not affect 95% of consumers anyway), or build a high-quality vehicle that will be so expensive no one will buy it (the Tacoma is already overpriced IMO), and go out of business. If Toyota stops selling mid-size trucks, that will be less competition for the other players, and they will very happily provide even less than they are now, because they'll know you don't have any choice but to buy their crap. Myself, I prefer to see healthy competition in the market.

Oh, and if my (future) kids' grades slip, the only person to blame will be me, as I will have had every opportunity to ensure that doesn't happen. Just like you have every opportunity to address the issues with your vehicle, or to get rid of it altogether. Keeping your vehicle (due to whatever justification you want) is your choice. I suspect it's really not a question of you losing $4k on the trade in, but rather that deep down, you know that whatever vehicle you end up with will not be perfect and will have its own issues - you're choosing the devil you know.

The fact of the matter is that the "widespread" issues affect a tiny minority of the vehicles, and that neither you nor I have Toyota on any sort of "hook" to release them off of. The only card you have is your wallet, and you have already cast that vote. Toyota is too big to care about the voices of a minority, however loud they may be.

We have a guy at work who is always right. Mostly because everyone else just smiles and nods before walking away. There is no use arguing because his persistence just wears you down until you realize you will never convince that anything other than his own thoughts are right. A few like to egg him on to see where today's entertainment goes not because they feel he has anything to offer the discussion.

Best to just walk away and let Richard be a Richard.

Well said 0210. This argument has twist and turned, but the core point remains the same. All generalizations of the truck are faulty, good or bad, and if you hate it and you're going to get rid of it, you need to do it ASAP. Regardless of the argument of industry/toyota quality, my points above stand.

The colorado zr2 looks pretty good imo, but I wouldn't buy one. Yes I am sure it is more off road capable than the pro, but i am sure the pro will outlast it, not to mention higher resale value. And the tacoma has way more aftermarket support to make it way more off road capable.

As far as the diesel goes, sounds cool but that's about it. Doesn't make sense for my needs or in a midsize truck.
