Talk me into an Access Cab, or out of an Access Cab

The smart money is get a double-cab. You can carry stuff and passengers. And people will pay more on the back end in terms of resale. That makes perfect sense if the Taco is your primary vehicle. What if the truck is your 3rd vehicle? I have sports car, and a minivan to carry people.

Will I regret that one time, when the 5" bed is "too small" to get the job done?

Will I regret that one time, I can't carry people. Or have to drive to the camp site by myself? Since I can carry, I might as well carry everyone's stuff.

Talk me into an Access Cab.

Or

Talk me out of an Access Cab.

IMO the access cab looks better from the outside. Plus you can fold down the back seats when you gotta haul little peeps around.

I wanted a full-sized bed and if I went with with a double cab the truck wouldn't have fit in my garage.

 

Do you want to haul motherfuckers around? If the answer is yes, then get a double cab. If the answer is no, then get an access cab.

I got an access cab because I don't want to haul motherfuckers around. Like 99% of the time that I am driving my truck I don't have any passengers, so I got the full size bed and the best looking cab configuration. Plus I don't get asked to drive too often. Win-Win.

 

If its not your only vehicle, I would say the go with the AC. You don´t want people riding in your truck anyway.

 

I vote double cab. I like having the extra space in the cab and haven't really had a situation where the tailgate down didn't suffice to be long enough.

I also like the brake light cargo light feature as well as the roof rack screw slots (or whatever they are called). Those both aren't present on the AC to my knowledge.

It's the same wheel base if I'm not mistaken so you're not gaining or losing anything other than the bed space and cab space.

 

An Access Cab TRD with tech isn't available with sunroof or JBL. Not saying that's important, just saying. Also doesn't come with bed light or power slider.
I love the Access Cab, if you can make it work buy it. The jump seats really aren't that bad, even for an adult.

If it's just you, it's extremely convenient to open the suicide door and toss your computer bag and stuff in the back, much more so than opening a rear door to do it.

Also it just plain looks better.

If you are going to carry additional people with any frequency at all, go 4 door.

I do a lot of hunting/camping and the short bed worried me at first. I was coming from a 08 tundra which had a nice size bed. I also have kids so AC wasn't an option. My solution to the short bed was a softopper. Its amazing how much you can fit in that short bed with a topper on it. And when I don't need it I take it off and store it in the garage.

 

The less people putting their dirty dick beaters all over the interior the better.

 

Regular cabs look sick, wish they still made them even if I would still probably go with an AC.

One time my brother was complaining about how cramped it was in the AC, so I told him that if he didn't like it, there was plenty of leg room in the bed. That shut him right the fuck up.

 

Access cab has a good amount of room. Utility cab has even more. I can put a honda spree back there.

 

As far as outside proportions the Access Cab looks awesome, I wanted one but could not get an Off Road Manual so I ended up with a Double Cab.

 

Really wanted a 17 regular cab. No fuckin carrier bearing.

 

2014 was the last Regular Cab and unfortunately we will never see one again.

I know. Buddy at work has 2nd gen regular, 4x4, manual 4cyl. It's got a rad wheelbase. And one driveshaft to the rear. It's so much fun to drive. Another coworker and myself have access cabs. Not as fun (frowny face)

 

I started out wanting an AC, couldn't find one I liked. I found a regular cab on the net, it was the color I wanted so I got it. No regrets.

It's had 3 people in it only 1 time when I rescued dumbf*cks who'd run out of gas.
