I didn't think that was related to load rating as much but more to inflation and overall diameter.

with the Toyos i had it was a combination of a soft and overly large sidewall for my prefs. i had those at 42psi iirc. my ST Maxx's are at 30/28 F/R and drive incredibly solid with no bubblegum stretchy business. although the Coopers have a shorter sidewall it is the wall stiffness that makes all the difference.

To get the best life out of them, do chalk test to find out what air pressure you should run your front and back are probably going to be a few psi different . Rotate mud tires also helps to keep them from howling

If you live in the mountains that means your trails have rocks, you need a better sidewall. I have Cooper s/t maxx in a 285/75/16 and they're 60 lbs a tire. I live at the base of the Appalachian mountains and honestly the truck still accelerates fine, in stock gearing too. My tires are bigger than these and my acceleration is still decent. I would suggest the 10 ply because in the mountains you don't want a soft sidewall, like the duratrac have. As for snow, the more narrow the tire the better

Cooper makes the ST Maxx in a 255/75/17 which is a C load tire, but the weight per Coopers site is the same as the 265/70/17 E, which surprised me (?)

    255/75/17= 31.77" 10.2" (7" rim) 55 lbs C

    265/70/17= 31.85" 10.7" (8" rim) 55 lbs E

As previously stated, Im stock suspension and will probably stay that way at least till next summer.

In 255/75/17, I saw nothing in E load range which is strange, and i did not all check the tire weights, this is per my wholesale account website. I only left out a Goodyear SR/A from all the available tires i can get.

    In C Load Range
    Cooper St Maxx (53lbs)
    Cooper Stt Pro (51lbs)
    Falken Wildpeak MT/01 (53.1lbs)
BF Goodrich KO2 (47lbs as compared to 43lbs for 265/70/17)
    BF Goodrich KM (old style)
    Nitto Trail Grappler (58.4lbs)
    Goodyear MTR Kevlar (52lbs)

    In SL Load Range
    Yokohama Geolander AT
    Cooper AT/3
    Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10
Goodyear Duratrac (40lbs very lightweight vs 44lbs for SL or C version of 265/70/17 (same weight for both versions)

I'd get a set of 265/65/16 BFGoodrich and call it a day. But there are many other great brands out there that may give you better results so its best to go with the majority who has had best results.

But in the end, only you can be the final judge because only you know where and for what purpose they will be used for.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

YouTube is it easiest way to explain. You basically chalk A stripe on the tire while it is aired up. You drive it, then lower the air pressure then drive it again until the wear is even.

someone else with the same problem seem to be an air pressure issue in the Michelin - adding pressure to about 36 PSI I think improved the handling of the tires, he was running 29 psi, the door sticker showed on his truck

With all terrain or mud tires the factory sport wheels look good in my opinion with stock tires they look terrible , these are a few members on here are photos are saved
