Anyone with a 3rd gen willing to help me out? I need the measurement from the top of the bedside to the bottom of the bedrail. I measured before I sent my truck in and I think it was 3" but I didn't write the measurements and forgot. I'm making the L brackets for my bed rack and want to make sure I cut correctly

 

Maybe slightly less than 3

Bed rack Update:

6 L brackets - need tabs welded
4 pieces extended
3 5 ft pieces need to he cut to fit

Thanks, my welding needs some work though. I'm still waiting for the bushing ends to arrive. Essentially once I'm done it will be a over the softopper bed rack like allpro or SOS but on bushing allowing for easy removal

True, I'm just a beginner at fabricating things though. and don't have a tube bender so I'll be cutting the top and butting them at 45 degree angles

 

Local member made one with the same square tubing and did the angles just like that.

It turned out really really nice and is sturdy as could be.

I really like the idea behind this mechanical unit though.

He made his with rails on the top kind of like a built in Basket

And also closest to the cab he can insert a second part and it's an instant headache rack for carrying super long items.

 

I was going to do square but @Mobtown Offroad let me rummage through his recycle bin and took a lot of good metal. Saved me a lot of money.
