Kill switch

Any luck installing one in the 2nd gen.? I rather do this myself, but want some input first. (Did search here, but no luck, maybe I missed the thread)

Just pull the fuse the fuel pump is on.

 

Let me clarify, kill switch as in: If some punk feels lucky, it gives me time to get outside and give him a quick tune up. And, yes the switch is for my 2nd gen. Tacoma truck

i've thought about this before too, im pretty sure a battery kill switch will be your best bet. Someone do one and post it up!

how about one that makes the wife not want to drive my truck....... Is that wrong??... (especially when im deployed). Shes got a 05' 4 runner so dont feel bad for her!

 

Yes, my Z will have one also. Some people have installed remote fuel pump cut offs (using a keyfob or dial from a phone). I kinda like that idea, so if they pull a gun on you... you can just say "here take it"

Give them about 3/4 a mile... enough time to cut the fuel and dial the popo's.

Not wrong at all, in fact if she dont know where the switch is she can't start the truck.

Cool idea but too high tech and expensive, but I see where you're at with car jacking scenarios, that would work.

I used to have a 78 Firebird, what I did was to pull the ignition wire off the distributor and that kills any spark, so it will turn over but no fire just a dead bird. The battery idea is cool but this will be more of a pain, I think slicing the ignition wire some where deep under the dash and a simple toggle switch or 2, in a secret spot.

 

I had one on my 68 Camaro and it was a simple on and off switch that turned the electric fuel pump on and off. Wiring on older cars are much simpler and todays cars with ecu's, cutting power to the battery is not a good idea. I suggest you find your wires for your fuel pump and put a switch that way.

 

put a switch on the fuel pump. should be easy. then hide it somewhere, or make it so damn obvious the would-be thief is dumbfounded.

 

This will work... if you have a manual tranny.
