    There should be a fuse labeled towing lights 30a and one back up LP 10a that problem is really strange. Let us know what the out come is at the dealer OP

    chrome valve stems covers
    Use a Voltmeter and the chart on post #17. Check to see if your connections are good. Might need to be cleaned in order to make a good contact.

    I never said it was overheating. My guess is that it is a resistance based issue with all the fancy computer systems in the truck. It just sences a short and/or too much load and goes into a fail safe. Then you have to turn truck off, back on and it tries again.

    I was wondering about that...might be the cheap ass Harbor Freight meter...but both left and right blinker circuits read the same and the right side works fine.

    Great idea...I'll try that this morning. Also planning on running the truck down to the trailer store down the street and see if they'll let me try to hook up to one of their trailers.

    All lights on the truck work fine with the trailer NOT hooked up...when hooked up the right flasher will work but the left flasher won't...emergency blinker only works on the left side.

    Taking it in for service tomorrow but not sure they'll be able to hook it up to a trailer to test.

    There's not...I looked. BUT if it were a blown fuse the blinker wouldn't work with the trailer disconnected...and it does.

    So you have lights on left side of trailer? The only thing that is not working is your left turn signal? I would try another light first. Than if that dosn't solve the problem work your way back from the light to the pin connector looking for a bad ground, kinked or frayed wire. Your getting power to light there is just some kind of interruption along the way.

    Some things to try if you haven't:

    Take your trailer connector apart and swap the left and right wires. See if the problem follows or stays.

    If it follows and is now on the right side then you have a wiring issue some where between the connector and light.

    If it stays then it's most likely in a light assembly or that light's ground.

    trailer manufacturers are notorious for using scotch locks, those quick connects that you squeeze with pliers to connect. They will also use the mounting screws as the ground for the trailer lights. On my 2 enclosed trailers the rear turn/brake/running light housings are mounted on the drop down door and the grounding point is through the back door aluminum skin then through the frame then through the hinges... how long do you think that lasted? In fixing it I found 3 scotch locks per circuit. One for the 7 pin lead to trailer harness, one each for the trailer harness then one each for each trailer harness to light fixture... rear light housings, running lights to the top of the box. Not saying that your factory trailer wiring was a poorly installed as mine just something to look at. Does this explain why it works with your buddies truck, maybe, like what was said earlier, Toyota's might be "sensitive".
