    Hello fellow TWers

I searched and could not find the answer so I am posting in hopes that someone can help. I recently replaced my non oem radio with the proper 2012 radio. The purchase included radio and clock/hazard. I installed it yesterday AM and everything related to the radio, hazard, clock, bluetooth ect is working great! But now I have the passenger occupancy sensor not sensing if there is or isn't an occupant. The air bag light is stuck in "off" and even with a passanger on it the truck wont switch to "on" and it wont sense the passenger.

I already disconnented the battery over night and reconnected this morning with no luck. Any info or guidance would be appreciated.

Well, you'll need to find out if any codes are stored in the SRS control unit. But barring that, I'd check the connectors under the seat and make sure they have not been left disconnected or damaged from stuffing junk under the seat. You can remove the 4 attaching bolts for easier access, the connectors have locks that need to be released first.

Also, there are a couple of Recalls on the occupant presence calibration and sensitivity check. Check with the dealer to see if they apply.

Before you replaced the radio, did it have the clock/hazard module below it, and did the air bag light work before?

When I installed the radio the only thing I did not have connected was the AC control panel. I was sitting in the passenger side seat when I turned on the truck for power on the radio.

Toyota made a change around 2012 with the AC controls; maybe they changed the clock module also?

Is it possible to reinstall the older 2007 clock module and see if the air bag system works? That would narrow it down to whether it is the SRS system, or the 2012 clock module.

If it worked before with the 2007 module, then it may just need the ZERO point calibration done.
Also just looked at diagrams, the 07 has the On/Off switch as part of the air bag module, the 2012 does not.

Have you tried it with someone sitting in the seat?

Mine is off also, unless someone or something is in the seat.

My truck is a 2012 Tacoma with SR5 package. I bought the radio/hazard assembly from LKQ using the the part number given by dealer.
Part number for associated radio is
    86120-04260

Donor truck was a 2012 Tacoma.

Why would the original owner replace the 2012 module with a 2007 module? Maybe he dicked something else up to get the 2007 to work?

That has been the question I have been asking myself since Dec when I got the truck. I am guessing he may have had an aftermarket radio and prior to trading it in and truck going to auction he just stuffed whatever he could get his hand on in the dash. My truck had the option of the aux/usb and Bluetooth but neither were working due to the base 07 radio. I replaced the radio with the proper one and everything is working perfectly...except that damn passenger airbag light.

This was the mess hiding behind the radio. You can see the yellow pull a part marker read "07"

    ^^^NOT MY TRUCK^^^
Picture borrowed for demonstartion purpose only

One thing I do know is that when there was no weight in the passenger side neither "on" or "off" would appear. It would switch to "off" when someone or something light sat in the seat and "on" when a passenger would sit in the seat. Now with or without a passenger it stuck on "off". The light red man with the seatbelt indicator does not show up warning the passenger to buckle up either. I am beyond confused as to why the damn truck would fight what she was suppose to have so much.

    Perplexing.

In the interim, you could reuse the 2007 module with the 2012 black parts (faceplate, hazard switch, etc). The only bad thing is that you would have the orange clock numerals.

You have sparked my interest here sir. I could live with the amber clock as long as the rest of the parts could be switched out. Any idea how this can be done?

    Not sure; haven't done it.

    The button is easily replaced.

EDIT: since it appears you already have the black faceplate, you could probably just stick in the 2007 module and switch the hazard button, and not deal with switching anything else on the module itself.

So I have been driving the Taco with the passenger airbag stuck on "off". Today I paired my bluetooth and it seems to have magically made this thing work. I first saw the "off" disappear. Next I jumped in the passenger seat and this happened. It now recognizes a passenger, the seatbelt man came on and the airbag switched to "on" when sitting on the seat. o_O :)
