Yeah. It's pretty cool. They started selling their pigs to restaurants in Houston.

 

It took ~4 years to get to that point. Having to start from scratch is quite the daunting task.

That's the way I do it, too. They usually don't really mind. I bought just shy of 400 pounds for myself during the last sale a month or so ago, so I'm in pretty good shape. Don't they normally do one for 4th of July week? I should be good until then.

I think Labor Day weekend is when I usually do a big purchase. That is when we go to our big competition, so we're buying anyways, but I feel like it's on sale. My father-in-law grills quite a bit and goes through his fair share of Kingsford. I try to tell him to buy in bulk during the sales, but he usually only buys 4 bags. If you know you're going to use it, you shouldn't have to pay more than $10 for a double-pack except for in a pinch.

On another note, I rolled up 6 fatties last night. Sold them to a guy that wants to cook and sell them at a festival coming up. I'll be curious to see how this version does with the general public.

 

Needs more bacon.
