Power increase after picking the truck from the 5000 mile service

Hello all,
After I brought my 2017 doublecab Sport in for the 5000 mile service and the rear end recall, I drove the truck and noticed it drove FANTASTIC! It had great power and throttle responsiveness like it never had before. However- after about 100 miles of driving it returned to normal- not terrible, but not the same truck that left the dealer a mere few days ago. The dealer said the rear end of my truck was fine, no leaks and they re balanced the tires. I always fill up with the same fuel at the same place, so I am left to wonder what on earth is going on?

 

The only other thing the dealer did was to clear the service reminder light that came on

Did you smoke or otherwise ingest a illegal substance prior to picking it up?

Seriously, all they do on the 5k service is a tire rotation and multi-point inspection. Nothing else. And sounds like they didn't touch your rear end.... Placebo effect.

 

I wish that was the case- the difference was not subtle

 

the dealer didn't turn truck off had ect engage you turned truck off ect disengaged.

 

It was not a marginal difference- it was readily noticeable - in fact as I was driving I was quite astonished at the difference

 

Dealer spiked your fuel with some octane booster...

 

They probably put unicorn piss in the gas tank. Very strong stuff, but unfortunately very short lived.

 

I thought of that but I have since driven it with the ECT on and it is not the same thing

 

I have some (special racing fuel) I'll sell you. It's 87 octane and 5 bucks a gallon you'll definitely feel the difference.

 

I'm hoping my dealer will touch my rear end at my 5000 service. Feeling kind of lonely....

They might have cleared your ECU. I find the transmission behaves BETTER when the ECU has just been reflashed. After a few thousand miles mine goes back to Limp Dick mode again.

Resetting the maintenance minder, checking air in tires and adding washer fluid does not add horsepower nor torque. The only thing I can think of it you came out in a parallel dimension where the only difference is Tacomas have 30 more lb ft of torque. You then drove too far and went back into your old universe.
