Nice! My OCD makes me change them both out at the same time..lol . . . still curious if those with the ARB are doing the change sooner than the 30k

Dakar's are all short. Hence that shackle angle.

Same reason so many with them use axle relocation plates to move the tire back in the wheel well.

Yeah, seems like they're just a smidge shorter than they should be. Shackles angle is also pretty vertical even at ride height from what I have seen.

That being said, I don't think it's a huge deal. It would be nearly impossible to invert shackles under regular use. I also think people misunderstand negative shackle angle as well. For a shackle to invert, it need to be inline with the spring or past, not just past 90° to the frame. I.E., here's a picture from cycling my leafs earlier this year, I wouldn't consider this negative, and it will always pop back in the correct position. I've purposely inverted shackles for testing purposes too, and even then when you put weight back on it the pop back.

Had to push my axle forward ha

Non tacoma Dakar leafs are for 95-97 tacomas. Same leaf spring design.

Which would be 3" shorter then 98-04 leafs. No way would they go on

My shackles flex at that angle on Frank all the time. Never had a problem either.

I'll get some pictures of my old style dakars later when I'm pulling leafs this afternoon and see how they hang. Got me curious now. I know when I flex they go negative a bit.

From photos I've seen. Most Dakar packs sit with the shackles just past vertical I think. No where near a 45 angle.

The repairman came and replaced the evaporator coil in my home A.C. unit so my mods will be of the cheaper variety for the next little while.

Today I replaced those cup holder inserts so it'll fit more than just Big Gulps and 40's (joking). Cheap fix I bought these and a replacement set for <$11.00 from Gunny at Camelback Toyota. It's a different material, maybe it'll hold up better.

Huh, I wonder if someone else replaced yours before you did. Mine are the same material you just bought, they hold drinks actually really well. The stuff you removed looks like the vinyl they use on our seat covers.

My originals were the same material as his. The replacements seem to be reinforced with fabric and I'll bet last longer.

Yep, looked like vinyl (it wasn't) on one side and foam on the other. Anything's possible, I am the second owner.

I accidentally hooked it up with ground and power reversed when I was installing a quick disconnect. Nothing happened when it got power reversed besides it not working, I hooked it back up to normal and a resistor blew, smoke came out and it stopped working :anonymous:

It all depends on where you frequent too. Even with good seals and breather, my front diff gets milky from the sandy shit water I drive through a lot faster then most.
