Mine just showed up. I'll try it out over the next few days. I won't post an official review until the new chip gets here though.

Pretty sure he meant #1131. :cookiemonster:

Okay so I lied about waiting until I got the new firmware to install it. Anyone who has read my posts will know that I am pretty blunt and honest; and that trend will continue.

    Install:
The install itself takes about 5 minutes and that is with running the wires in a neat way.
*BEWARE* as another forum member noted the wires on the female harness can come out during installation. On my test drive I was wondering why it was not working as intended. The purple cable came out of the harness. The harness looks like it was made on a 3D printer and isn't of OEM quality but it does work. If you are worried about it popping out again you can always solder or crimp it together; I was fine with just reinserting and resecuring.

I secured it tucked up under the dash with the adhesive provided; however after I swap the chip I will probably use industrial velcro.

    The Product:
I have asked for the new firmware/chip to be mailed to me in advance of even installation and I am glad that I did.
    S2 -> S3 -> S4 are absolutely perfect.
S4 -> S5 could engage at a lower speed which is what the new firmware will change. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. I am glad that this is being corrected and S6 will be lowered a bit too.

When I compare the drive modes:
D - has been influenced a lot by the EPA and it is obvious. The crazy number of shifts are all in the name of fuel economy.
SS Pro - Feels like ECT but doesn't have that aggressive over sensitive feel to it. Doesn't unnecessarily hold high RPMs at all times. Keeps you in the power band and doesn't shift endlessly. I found my gas mileage was similar to me driving in D, maybe just slightly more
ECT - Overly sensitive, keeps you in the power band; usually on the high side of it and uses the most gas.

    Overall:
I am extremely impressed by the ingenuity and the level of talent on this forum. We tend to fix issues we should not have to but that's what makes owning a Tacoma kind of fun for me personally. The product works as intended and the designer actually listens to the clientele and cares about his product. I will update this review after the new firmware as well.

It's hard to not play with a new toy. I installed mine the day it came in the mail.

Great review and explanation to give those still waiting an idea of what they have to look forward to.

Well Gents I went and did it today...I traded the gen3 in with 26k on the clock. Bought a 2017 F150 with the 2.7 eco boost & fwd.

First come first serve on my shift sense that I have in hand. $165 shipped. I am set up to receive the chip that changes 4th to 5th and once I receive it I will mail that to whoever buys as well.

Take care all. Pm me if interested.

Damnit, my vids sucked. Will upload again later. I only drove it to the store and back, 689ft elevation change over 3.1 miles. I like it so far. Real test will be when I go through the hills this weekend.
