Bass? That's what I fish for. Will be staying at a family friend's house at LBJ this summer and hope to fish there. I mostly bank fish but I have a fishing kayak and I'm slowly building a list of friends that have bass boats up here in north Texas.

I've got an 8' ocean kayak and I'm just way too big for it. Would love a 10-12 fishing setup but man, they want a lot of coin for those.

 

About four years ago, Dick's had the Field and Stream Eagle Talon 12' on sale for $400. It's usually $550 I think. It's a sit on top and comes with three rod holders, paddle holder, anchor trolley and anchor. It also has a storage hatch that runs all the way to the back of the kayak and a mesh gear holder in back. Pretty awesome introductory fishing kayak for the money, even if you pay full price.

I built my own kayak cart for $60 out of PVC and some other stuff from Home Depot after finding plans online.

It's not the fastest or most stable boat, but I've never tipped it. Highly recommend it for the money.

 

Oh, and it has a 500 lb weight limit, so you can carry all your crap and be 40 pounds overweight like me.

 

Damn! That's about half the price if not more than the ones I've been eyeing. And I've been looking second hand!

I will have to check into that and appreciate the lead man!

 

Just got home from ER. Fever made it to 104 the dropped. Back to normal. Splitting headache. Body aches. Dizzy as hell still. ER Doc says virus thats going around. High dose antibiotocs. Rest until next weekend
