30 mile mpg challenge

some of us aren't trying to do anything more than to have fun driving!

Meanwhile a Colorado diesel can actually average 30 plus real world. An extended cab 2wd would probably be close to 35.

What are the owners in garbage traffic areas like Bay Area, Seattle, or Dallas actually getting? Starts with a 1.

 

SoCal here. Seriously though.... when is Toyota going to give us a diesel? I want to at least hit over 20mpg

 

I actually think I can pull this off, more miles next time...

 

when I'm local and off the highway it's pretty low, definitely below 15 for proper city driving. but i also run a Pedal Commander and drive to entertain myself. when i get on the highway it goes up and balances it out for what looks to be 17-18 avg. but when i drive on the open road it goes down again since I'll be always above 75mph.

 

lol.. If I get 20 I'm shocked.

 

So this didn't work out. I ended up having my basket on the roof with coolers and what not, which absolutely killed MPG.

However, this week I gave it a shot on my work commute.


30 miles (let's call this 27.3 MPG, which will be explained later)



30 more miles (28.8mpg)



332 total miles (27.1mpg)

I wish I could have kept this going to E, but the weekend is here, and I needed to fill up for a longer trip.


Fuel attendant topped me off a little bit, ugh ... why. I saw what it was at first click, though.

when I was working on relocating all my stuff from a house off base to on base a month ago, had a load in the bed during this trip

 

So this is a thread for those with pretty much stock tires... who is running 270/275/285's with anything close to this?

 

This was taken after a trip on A1A in Florida which is totally flat. The average speed was 35 MPH and the wind was almost calm. I do have the stock tires which are 245's and have made some mods which slightly improve the effficeincy as well as the power.

 

Climbing Mt Washington with four passengers and a bed full of gear while towing a 27 foot Jayco camper.

 

I run duratracs in 265 75. Plus lift tent and armor.

 

That's impressive.

 

I have to say the the digital odometer in these trucks are less then accurate. I drive the same route everyday with no change. And one day I was 5 miles different. Yesterday I was 2 miles under. Not sure why or how to confirm this. If it was analog i wouldn't have any doubts.

 

35Mph at an incredible distance of 40miles...

 

Coming back home from big bear mountain coasting with 5 passengers. Going up was 14 mpg

 

*mental note, don't use camera phone while going downhill on a single lane at 60 mph. Almost ran into the guardrail.

 

The end of tank average was 20.1. I am not complaining that is great for the truck.
