I'm in the mind set if it's not perfect then why keep it. Everytime you drive that truck you will know it's not right. Being a tall guy no one can fit behind you in the rear seat as well. Treat yourself to a Tundra Crewmax. Huge seats, tons of leg room in rear area too. It's only money...

Saying it's only money is like saying it's only food, housing, medical care, etc.

Its not like he bought an SR 4 cylinder truck, he bought a nice expensive Limited Tacoma and is not comfortable driving it. Sr5 Tundra Crewmax wont cost too much more and he'll be very happy.

Skip the sunroof. I'm 6 foot tall and my head always hit the sunroof in my 4Runner. In my taco, plenty of headroom

When I bought my 95 I had to get one without a sunroof. But the 17 obviously has more headroom. I'm still a few inches from touching.

I have a similar issue not as tall at 6 foot but yep hate the limited amount of adjustment.

I just sit closer and bend my knees a little. It bothered me at first as I prefer having my legs straight or at least what I was used to. But since adjusted and just as comfortable now. To the point I feel out of it when I get in my Jetta where I sit farther

yeah my head hit the head liner too, i'll probably be looking into modifiying the seat some how either lowering the back of the seat or removing some foam. i have the moon roof and love it.

6'6" here, may have to look in to the upholstery option. I'd be happy if I could move the rear view mirror up (like 2nd gens).

they carved out a bucket, so a small circle in the middle with 1/2-3/4" foam left, and carved progressively less from there moving outward in a circle. they carved it out from the bottom, not the top. then they refill with a low density foam to take out the slack, add some cush, and protect against collapse like you're thinking. keep in mind these guys are pros and are experienced.

and by the way, 150k miles on a horrible seat that makes my right leg numb from driving isn't a solution. o_O

It's peoples big guts that's causing the issue not the height. Lose some lbs and work on some posture. Didn't take it for a test drive? Cramming yourself in a truck should raise some questions before purchase.

I'm 6'3 and I have the seat all the way back and leaned back. It works but I wouldn't mind a couple extra inches if I could get it.

Makes sense. I just wondered because I drove a lifted ram and that drivers seat was shit after 90k lol I was sitting on the frame of that seat and it was awful.

Right lol! I took mine out for 2 hours too get the feeling of it. I have the seat maxed out with it leaned back 38" arm in seem no issues with the telescoping wheel, in fact it's full extended all the way down.

OP here...just an update...my 1Gen buddy (also 6'3") and I went to the parking lot to do a side by side...the 1st gen seat is lower and the steering wheel seems to be closer to the driver. He is on the verge of buying a 3rd Gen and was thinking upholstery options.

I've moved my seat back and have a lumbar pillow back there and its working...so I'm thinking that a plus-up of the lumbar area may help tall drivers get closer to the wheel (while the seat is cranked back)...that plus some foam height reduction may be a good combo.

Well I drove from LA to Reno and back this weekend in my girlfeiends chevy Cruze. Part as passenger and part as driver. I will never complain about my Tacomas space issue again. That is all.
