Huge fucking dislike right there. WTF is up with that?? That's totally un-American right there, especially since this is an "American holiday".

Sucks. I'm probably headed out for the weekend soon. My boss left at 10AM, don't know why even bother coming in at that point.

 

Corporate greed. The bigger the company, the less upper management cares about the people on the counters. x degrees of separation.

Even though in a lot of cases, the company pays more in wages than makes in sales on those select days.

When I worked at a retail shop we were open on New Year's Day, and we never cleared more than $500 thru the till. For two counter guys, a cashier, a service writer, and two techs in the garage that doesn't even come close to covering payroll, but they insisted we be open EVERY year.

 

I'll be working all weekend on/off from home and on call. We have a memorial day sales.

 

It's so dumb. And the whoever is the owner just decided to close up for the day, they wouldn't have lost money AND it would be an easy morale boost for the employees. But people are so short sighted.

 

Because greed.
