Last night I had to help a neighbor figure out long division. Grades really do matter, I figured it out in two seconds and was even using the short form they are now allowed to use up here quick with his kid while he was staring at us still trying to figure it out lol.

If it's a short form, does it really still count as long division?

 

Yup. For multiple digits they used to make kids show all their guess work. IE if you're dividing a double digit number into a larger number a kid usually needs to do some multiplication to get the answer. Now they make them do that work for a few questions and then they can use mental math on the rest.

I beg to differ, i failed algebra and did terribly in geometry, just all around sucked in math, but somehow I made it as a fabricator/welder/machinist. All of which rely heavily on math.
