Thanks. Heading for my recent go-to scotch, Monkey Shoulder. Been a tough month, but the Monkey has been good to me.

Ok, there might be some vodka involved, but that would be rare for me, I usually only stick to vodka on Fridays. I meant vodka, no wait........vodka!

I wish! We had ours last weekend, something about a Queen's birthday, I have no idea.

Memorial day is something for you to celebrate. Thanks to all for their service, we salute you. Thank you for your service, not only to you, but for us Canucks too.

Memorial Day (last Monday of May) is when we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the country.

Veteran's Day (11/11) is when we honor those who served.

Either way, the VA is there to care for those "that borne the battle."

I ran a race/fundraiser for a guy I went to highschool with who went down in an F18 a few years ago in the Mediterranean Sea.

Left behind a pregnant wife (little girl now) who I also went to high school with. Kinda sobering.

    His name was Lucas Gruenther.

    Rather Major Lucas Gruenther.

Thank you! Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed by those who are your allies. Trust me with this, we appreciate the support and effort by all our friends. A lot of talk in the media about support lately, but we have your back and always will!

Sorry guys. I'm getting my threads mixed up. I thought I was in the third gen memorial thread. Which is more somber.

Lucas was fking crazy in high school. Super fun. He had an old Nissan beater car he painted racing stripes on. He also pointed the window sprayer out and as he was leaving school he'd spray anyone who was foolish enough to be near.

I also watched him dive over some one 6'4" off a good 30' cliff.

Great guy. Didn't know much about his life after that until recently though.

Apparently he got into endurance races as a past time.

I was happy to run a 10k in his honor though.

I worked closely with Canadian troops in Bosnia and again in Iraq/Afghanistan. Love me some hosers.

We had two corporals from Toronto teach us how to shovel snow (6 feet had fallen in 2 days), and these guys were machines. They got the German 3-star to listen to them, so we shoveled snow off of all the roofs. We bitched and moaned about how stupid it was...until a bunch of Russians were killed north of Tuzla when their roofs collapsed on them.

The next day it snowed, we shoveled, and no one bitched.
