Just got the strangest greeting from a neighbor a few minutes ago . As I was walking to my truck he yells out to me " Happy Memorial day weekend " to me

    WTF !!

I just kept walking , Can't believe people nowadays , no respect at all . This weekend is for remembering Veterans past and present who gave their all and paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving for their country

Find your local Boy Scout troop, they should retire your old flag. Great ceremony for the boys to perform

I understand why you just kept walking, and your frustration, but perhaps you could explain to him what Memorial Day is really for a lot do not know.. Not everyone has served or knows someone who did and to be honest if they taught us what it was for when I was in school I do not recall it.
It would mean you go and apologize for your some what rude response an then go on to explain. IMHO

So very true. Let's stop for a moment and quietly thank and remember all of those that gave their lives so we can do what we love.

Remember flags at half mast on Monday from sunrise to noon and then full after.

Small town where I grew up has a Memorial Day Parade shutting down the major highway which runs through the town. Local school districts marching bands participate, as do the Auxiliary and SAL of local American Legion. Guys get floats together to carry veterans and poppy queen and king of the club. After parade there is a Memorial service at the graveyard and then participants are invited back to the American Legion for hot dogs, chips, baked beans , ice cream... I volunteer to cook the hot dogs on the grill. Last year we did 600 dogs. Might sound boring to some but I try to do my part.

 Ok 50 plus pages behind and some 886 messages. I'm going to be lazy and hope things have been going well as can be for all. Work has gotten in the way of living again. Man I hate when that happens. I did get to go run around Mt Adams last weekend and did stupid by doing a water crossing that popped up. Everything was good in the AM and by the afternoon it was running about a foot or so over the road. Might see about going back to see if the road has washed out again. I did get some parts for the truck powder coated and installed finally though.
