I've been driving a rav4 since cinco de mayo and they just called me saying "we will need to switch you to a different car." I'm like, "ya'll finally got me another tacoma or 4runner to drive?" Service rep says, "no sir. Odds are it will be a camry." :frusty:

I understand that there are procedures they have to go by and it might just be me but I dont like the fact that I have an 12 month old truck with 16,xxx miles that has to sit out for "6-8 months". Im still making my monthly payments on it because thats nothing I can avoid or get out of. I guess my quirk about this whole issue is the fact that they really seem clueless at this point. No matter who I speak with there is no answer set in stone. Honestly, If given the choice I would happily trade it in for a 17 tacoma if said issue didnt affect 2017 tacos. I waited for the 3rd gen to come out. Now im gonna wait even longer to have my 3rd gen repaired. I love my truck but this just sucks.

The 6-8 month statement we all know is not going to happen in this case. we're looking at 30-60 days max. We never listen to dealer BS.

Im hoping that is the case. But im getting anywhere from "June" to "6-8 months" to "theres no rememdy known at this time".
And im getting this from the dealership as well as corporate.

Because of the sheer number of vehicles involved Toyota has to ramp up inventory on parts kits (hardware and gaskets) to be ready for the wave. That's it , This is not a complicated repair. Once the parts are ready this will move real fast.

I was told it should be a quick fix. However if internals were compromised, thats another can of worms....

Take a peek. my buddy wasnt on the recall list. His leak was as bad as mine. He took it in. Dealer agreed that its leaking. His truck is gonna get worked on and treated as "warranty" instead of recall.

This is the classic definition of a FUBAR operation.
But it's not too late for those that haven't brought their vehicles to the impound yard.

I'm calling for a recall retreat
    Save yourselves!

hopefully toyota doesn't drag their feet and start replacing the gaskets soon or
they might have a new problem of people wanting to take advantage of the 30
    day lemon law.

I would look into that lemon law for various reasons. For one, I need my truck. I bought it for a purpose and not to be a lab rat.

In most cases the Lemon law doesn't apply with recalls. Where it would apply is if the fix didn't work and the truck had to go back. There are too many loopholes with recalls involved.

According to them, every vehicle that is rented has to go through a 3 month service and the rav4 is due for a service.

neighbor took theirs to the local dealer a few weeks back. Dealer kept it and gave them a loaner. Hail storm came through and beat the crap out of it. The fine print on the work release says dealer not responsible for damage not caused by dealer. No way they are getting mine until they have fix parts in hand and hail season is gone.

Took my 16 Sport in to the dealer today. My VIN is on the recall list. The weeping looked like most other pictures on this thread which they said was not leaking. Tightened the bolts and checked the level and sent me on my way. I will watch for more weeping or leaks and wait for a official Toyota recall solution and follow up with the dealer if needed. Nice not to have to leave it there for a long time. I also checked the bolts before leaving to make sure they did not break any.
