Just a link to check out before the read...

So.. I am sure most people saw the thread I originally posted about T.O.D. Wrecking my Tacoma. If not, here is the link:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/78707-toyota-dallas-wrecked-my-tacoma.html

I would first like to Thank Chris and Phil for helping out with this situation. They are good guys that unfortunately work for a crappy dealership.

So against many recommendations from TW members to call a lawyer or call my insurance and take the truck somewhere else I decided to let them try and fix it. I was told by three people it will be just as good as when I dropped it off. First person being the Service Director(Vince Carnovale), The second being the General Manager(David Kelley) and the third being the Body Shop Manager(Mike Collins).

Well, I dropped the truck off for the 1st time on Monday March 1st. I was told the truck would be ready in a couple days. I had to fly out of town Thursday and wasn't able to check the truck out till Saturday. I make my way to the dealership Saturday morning(took my brother) and meet with Chris and Phil. We go over the truck and there are a couple issues. At the front of the bed they burned through the clear/paint while sanding or buffing. The new fender flare looked as if they didn't bother cleaning some of the dirt off before painting it because there were little spots all over it as well as some you could feel. Here is a picture of the burn through at the front of the bedside.

    BurnThrough_80dd618cbd40ec5fa118f8cd6beb2832c981ab8f.jpg

So They agreed there was a problem and that it would be fixed. They also told me that if you sand the flare that it will shine it up and not match the rest of them since the flares have a slightly duller finish. I was under the impression that they were going to replace it again at that point.

So I leave the dealership Saturday and I get a call Tuesday(yesterday), March 9th saying it is ready. I make my way back to the dealership mid-day to check it out. Well they sanded the flare and it was just as glossy as the paint now, completely different from the other three flares. I also find a mess-up on the bedside and point it out to them and was then again informed it would be fixed asap(the flare and the bedside). I didn't get a chance to finish my conversation with them at that point because my 18month old daughter was having an allergic reaction to amoxicillin and I had to take her to the pediatrician. After I got through with that I made my way back to the dealership to talk with them and make sure it was getting done. I was told they were putting another new flare on and they buffed out the imperfection in the bedside... When he said they buffed it out I knew at that point it was not fixed because it was not something that will buff out. I was told it will be ready in the morning so I left.

Here are the pictures from that day, first one pointing out the bedside imperfection that they were going to "buff out" and the second showing how glossy the flare is.

So, after that I go back up to the dealership today to check the truck. I get there and they pull my folder, key is not in it so they had to look for the key for a couple minutes. The Body Shop Manager(Mike Collins) said he will pull the truck around so I go wait outside. He pulls up and I walk over to the truck to inspect it and of course the imperfection in the bedside is still there. The fender flare looks much better than before but it still has imperfections in it(that you can feel, not just see). I showed him and he said it was just residue from buffing. He went into the shop and came out with a rag with something on it and started wiping it down. This of course did not do anything since it was not residue.

He then went on to tell me that all flares, even from the factory have imperfections like that... So I had him follow me around and inspect the three other factory flares on the truck... Did we find any factory paint imperfections? NO. My driver front flare has a small gouge and he tried to justify the imperfections in the rear saying my truck isn't perfect anyways.

He then told me that we are not going through this anymore and to that I need to take the truck and leave. I decide to call Phil and give him a heads up on the situation and I told Phil that I am taking the truck and not to worry about coming down to the body shop. Chris and Phil were nice enough to try and get something resolved that had nothing even close to do with them. I told Phil that I don't want him getting in the middle of this because that will most likely just cause bad blood between him and management.

So as I am talking to Phil on the phone the body sop manager(Mike Collins) decides to call the General Manager(David Kelly) and tell him what is going on. As I am listening to him he tells the GM, and I quote "He must be going to Pebble Beach or something". Wasn't really getting pissed off till I heard him say that.

So here comes the GM(David Kelly) around the corner. He goes on to take my license plate down and went inside for something. I try and show him the flaws in the paint and he said I don't want to see it. He then proceeded to tell me to take my "fucking" truck and get out of here. He also said that I never had any intention of taking the truck back which he said he read in the original post. I told him that was completely incorrect and that I said I will not take the truck back until it is done CORRECTLY! He then went on to tell me he is done with it and to get out... throwing the F-Bomb in here and there. I usually remain calm but I did manage to let cocksucker slip before I officially left.

So I get home and start this post and in the middle of the second paragraph(3:32pm) my phone rings. I answer, and it is the GM(David Kelly). He goes to say that he was being unhelpful because I called him a motherfucker in my original post... Which I did, I guess(pointed out to me by 09trdspt), actually it was cocky motherfukker. I probably sould have left the motherfukker part off but he is definitely cocky.

So, it probably would have been much easier if I listened to all the people and just got the lawyer in the first place but I was stupid and relied on them telling me it will be as good as new. Well, the lawyer will definitely be getting involved now.

Well, I would prefer it not be locked because then it will just fade away. It would be great if everyone could just BUMP it so it stays on the first couple pages.

    Thanks Everyone.

I hope TW members think about this when ordering from TRDparts4u.com

The parts manager in the other thread seems like a good guy but the dealership he works at sounds horrible.

Sorry to hear about all of it man. There's still no excuse for the management to treat a customer like that, especially since the dealership caused the damage to the truck in the first place. I think I'd still report them to the BBB for it. They obviously knew you wanted the truck fixed right and they had no intentions of making sure it got done that way.

Have you called Toyota Corprate? Maybe talk to your insurance carrier, and see what options you have right now...
