Yup, they're not giving me anything on saving and investing has risk so I paid with their paper money and turned into a hard asset and sleep well

    Cheers

When I bought mine back in Feb, I printed out some local credit union rates and when financing gave me an offer, I said my credit union is offering these rates and pulled out my paper. The guy went back to his computer and 10 minutes later had better rates for me at a credit union they use. Their CU was .5% better than mine. The dealer even paid the fee to join. I did even have to show them my printed rates.

We have done this for our last 3 vehicles. They want you to finance through them and will find you a better rate. Just let them know your willing to do your own CU. To them that means your going to leave and have to come back. When you do that, there is always the chance you might find another deal. They also make a little from financing.

People freak the fuck out over .5%, 1% , 1.5%... Yeah sure over time (3, 4 or 5 years) it adds up but shit you probably spend more over that time on superfluous bullshit, beer, and eating out. People split hairs and get stressed out without even really understanding the impact in the grand scheme. Unless you're Dave Ramsey fughettaboutit in which case you'd be buying a used car for cash anyway.

Exactly. On a 35,000 loan for 5 years, 1% would change your monthly payment less than $25 a month. A few less visits to Starbucks would pay the difference.

The Dave Ramsey show is like a B-rated movie. If nothing else is on the radio, I listen to that supercilious ass. He should dial in a dose more humility when dishing out his advice. Sheesh. Reminds me of the self-serving Rich Man, Poor Man twerp.

I agree. Getting dinged a percent or 2 on an auto loan isn't the end of the world.

If you Finance $25,000 over 60 months at 2% you pay $1292 in interest. If the bank slaps you with a 3% you pay $1953 interest. If paying an extra $661 ($11 a month) in interest over 60 months is going to break you financially, you can't afford a $30k vehicle in the first place.

My coworker spends $10 on a smoothie and a bagel everyday before he comes to work. That's $200 a month on smoothies and bagels. Talk about throwing money away.

Now getting dinged a percent on a mortgage is bad because the principal is so high and payments are spread out over 30 years.

Dave Ramsey should be humble because he made poor financial decisions in his early 20s and abused credit.

Ramsey bought houses he couldn't afford , he bought a Jaguar on credit. He had to file bankruptcy. Luckily he bounced back from the financial hardship he faced and now he is a millionaire from telling people to eat rice and beans, drive a hoopty, and live like a pauper to pay off your debt in 2 years.

The Dave Ramsey followers act Like taking more than two years to pay off debt is the end of the world and shame on you for going into debt for anything.

Most of Ramsey's advice is good even though there are some things I disagree with him on but I do agree that he shouldn't be talking disrespectfully to any of the callers on his show because he made the same mistakes. He should offer his advice to them and not criticize them.

You're in the vast minority my friend.
If we could I'm sure we would all pay cash and be done with it.

Yep, DCLB is an unicorn, hard to find, especially the color black & loaded; I had to order mine. 6 foot bed & sunroof was a must for me.

They also had a $400 rebate on them in the spring of '09. Insanely rare and might have been the only time in the 11 year run of the G2 that there was cash back on them.
