We ship to Canada quite often, typically once a week.

I went and bought extra D-rings and installed them in my bed, so I could take the motorcycle on a road trip with the reinforced tailgate.I drove the motorcycle up onto the bed, and watched the reinforced tailgate bend under the back motorcycle wheel, before even driving over a bump. So much for that!

2008 Goldwing. Weighs 400 on the back wheel. Too much for it. I watched it just crush down as it sat there.

892 lb wet weight for a 2008 gold wing. With the bike in back, there would have been a weight transfer moving more than 50% to the rear wheel due to rear suspension sag.

Are there any sales going on or coming up? I'm interested in 2 plates and caps.

What hardware is included and what is optional? I would like to install the factory covers over the ribbed plates.

For those of you who have installed nutserts before, how snug should the blank sit in the drilled hole before you tighten it down? I used a spare piece of aluminum to drill a test hole with a 13/32 drill bit. There was a little bit of play when the nutsert was placed into the hole. So I tried the next size down, a 25/64 drill bit and the fit was perfect with no play at all. So, which is better, a little bit of play or snug?

25/64" is the better size but most ppl don't have that so we suggest 13/32".

I had to take the tailgate skin off a few times to work on something and now one of the rivet nut inserts just spins when tightening the bolt. Do you know the size so I can see if I can get another at the hardware store?

I just installed my tailgate skin that I ordered during the 4th of July sale.

Great product and well built. FedEx managed to slightly bend a corner during shipping but a pair of channel lock pliers got it straightened out no problem.

    A few things I noticed:

    1. I didn't need to trim any nubs off the stock plastic skin? It just laid flat right on top of the mobtown piece.
    2. Since I put the plastic skin back on top, it does take more force to close the tailgate now. There are 2 plastic rubber bumpers that provide just enough tension on the stock plastic skin, but with the additional plate it's a bit tight. I pulled the bumpers out and closed the tailgate and it felt more normal, but also rattled back a forth a bit.

For now I dabbed some extra grease on the latch catches, but I may gently sand down those rubber bumpers in the future so that it doesn't take so much force to close the tailgate.

Such a shame that Toyota couldn't build a proper and durable tailgate on these trucks. It's literally a weak point that I worry about when loading items, but at least now I can feel better that there is a proper metal backing on it.

    A+ would buy from again
