You can go up to a 285 like some people have on the TRD Pro 3rd gen's but turning the steering wheel lock to lock you are going to have minimal rubbing, which you could just do some light trimming and fix, I went with the 265/75/r16 BFG just becuase it is about an inch taller than the stock tire but isn't close at all to rubbing. Definitely get a more aggressive look with the KO2 but without having to trim on a brand new truck in my opinion.

 

Truck looked bad with 265s. I would have gone 255/85 but the 285s were really cheap.

And bigger/more tread and traction for off roading

the BFG may fit but I had to remove my front fender flares for the duratracs. At full lock they were rubbing under suspension compression. basically any time I pulled out of my driveway, becaause of the bump at the end of the driveway and being at full lock.

Yes, but you can adjust pressures to make it almost negligible.

Look at a tire that is unmounted (easier to see on a motorcycle or bicycle tire). The 2 beads are naturally pretty close together. To get them to seat on the wheel bead lip you have to blast them with a pretty substantial burst of air. that's why tire shops don't put a valve stem core in when they inflate them to pop the bead on. The narrower the rim, the closer it is to the tires natural state. As you inflate the tire, it pushes the 2 beads away from each other and against the rim seat.

Friend of mine used to run 34x9 pizza cutters on stock Jeep 7" wheels with no issues. Then he got some 8" wheels with outer bead locks for the same tires. He blew off an inner bead every time out. He switched back to the stock wheels and no more issues. Later he got some 35x12 tires and used the bead lock wheels without ever losing a bead. In his case, the height of the tire exacerbated the issue... but makes for a good example.

Around here a few years ago, it was thing for the "Bros" to get 12.5" wide mud terrains for their full sized Broncos and put them on 12" wide rims. It made the tires mount up much shorter, but wider, and sometimes it even looked like the tires were wider at the rim than the actual contact patch. I'm sure they never aired those down as they would have popped off on a slight side hill LOL.

That looks great - any chance you could post some more pictures from different angles of the STTs on stock setup? I didn't want to do tires now... but this might push that common sense option out the window.

265x75r16 nitto trail grapplers. bilstien 5100's set at zero with 885's coils. 2"aal in the rear.

 

How do you like those tires?

Have you had kbro2s to compare them to?
