put new pinion seal in. Putting the nut back on, it's stuck right at this point. Did I go extra turn to far? I didn't count turns when taking it off I went by looks. I don't want to bust anything by going to the air wrench please offer advice.

-also took a pic of the back of the flang so if someone could peak under there Taco and compare to mine if it's too tight that'd be awesome.

I tried to line up where the crushed part of the nut was as my guide.

If it stopped and won't turn without excessive force then it is probably at what it was before. Maybe go just a little bit more to preload the bearingstry to line it back up where it was before

Use a breaker bar. Don't use air. Or use a torq wrench and find out what spec is. @Taco No Baka any insight to help this guy

Pretty sure the nut is staked with a chisel so it doesn't back off. It's supposed to be unstaked before removal to not damage the shaft threads and a new nut used...torqued and restaked.

Used my air wrench to get the nut off and it instaked itself without damage to the nut or the threads. It went back on without any fuss up until this point. I don't see why I can't reuse it and restake it.

Pretty sure the FSM has it as a replacement item and they're only a few bucks...good luck.

Not especially. Without going through the motions of setting up the pinion gear like it was new, which to me would be unnecessary, I'd just try to put it back to where it was to start with. Looks like he only has a little further to go judging by the pink inspection seal and where the nut was previously staked. I don't see where an impact would hurt anything. I had to pull the pinion flange off my front diff to get it out and I did so with an impact and then put it back on the same way until the nut lined back up with the stake groove and the inspection seal (then restaked it of course). That was four years ago and it's still working fine (damn near the only thing that is on that effin' mickey mouse front end :frusty:).

As long as the pinion spins okay everything should be good.

Edit: Of course, if the pinion flange is super hard to turn, then he might have smoked it down a turn too far and is pretty much screwed since the crush sleeve will be trashed. I don't think that's terribly likely though.

well gentlemen I ended up hitting the nut with my impact wrench on the lowest setting and it cranked over right in line with just a few pulls of the trigger. I wiggled and pushed and pulled on everything and it all felt great. No movement side to side, and it had a tiny bit of play when I tried to spin it by hand. Locktighted everything real good and took it for a test drive around the neighborhood at nothing over 10mph to get the new oil slung around and seal seated nicely on the flang. Drives great so far, no vibrations at any point. No leaks yet . We'll have to see in a week after my highway drives to work and back if it's all sitting good. Thanks @Timbo89 @Taco No Baka and @NiteTaco for the help. Nice to have help from some fellow Florida boys.
