Sometimes smacking the POS fastener works wonders in comparison to trying to just twist it out.

Smack this tool ( ), with the right bit attached, with a BFH.

I grew up back east in the land of corrosion and stuck fasteners. One of those was always at hand and priceless.

 

When I took the rack off after he German torqued one of my bolts I eventually stripped it. Then welded a nut to the top and got some good ass behind it with a breaker bar, without fear of slipping the retarded torx head

Also. Shame. Don't break torque with a torque wrench.

 

Yep. I used to wheel a CJ-8 Scrambler back there, and the roll bar was attached with Torx head/bit bolts. Can't seem to recall why I needed to remove the roll bar, but that type of tool made it happen without ruining any of the bolts.

Besides the shock being transferred from the BFH, the rotation of that tool is small per-strike, so you don't strip out the bolt head. Do it enough with the same bit, and it'll start showing wear, but it's worth it.
