    Hi.

Relatively new to the PHX area and looking for places to go to shooting other than ranges that arent 2 hours away. Ive been up by the seven springs area but dont really care for most places until im an hour or so past the pavement. Thx in advance

Most people aren't giving up their spots to people that they have never met. That's how spots 1) get trashed, 2) get known.

What part of Phx are you in? Might be able to link up with someone who will show you a spot in person once they've met you.

North Phoenix = I'd be at Ben Avery until you find a spot. Cowtown too.

just out of curiosity, what is the longest distance at ben avery? I grew up in a small town so I dont prefer big gun ranges (or ranges at all) but i guess ive never really given them a try

Sycamore creek is OK to shoot but it's also crowded and filled with trash. I always bring a trash bag and leave with my targets then I fill the rest of the bag up with other people's shit that I pick up.

I need to hook up with a local with a secret spot or buy my own land... :p

Table Mesa Road and around Lake Pleasant are well know spots.

Go early, be prepared to bring lots of trash out. Also watch for the idiots that setup near you and start shooting towards you.

Good luck convincing someone to give up their spot. Although there is a lot of BLM land around, start exploring and find your own special spot.

@DevilDocAZ looks awesome, im about to go to sleep so ill pm in the morning.

Another side question... any recommendations on gun stores. I went to a crossroads of the west gun show and was told to stay away from tombstone tactical (ive heard otherwise as well). Just looking for a quality "good guys" gun store to invest my money at

I sent a suppressor to C2 Tactical and Merchant Firearms. C2 is a nice facility. Haven't been to merchant yet.

Driving down the 10, past the AZ border and Quartzsite, im seeing all these off-ramps for what i assume were long abandoned mining operations. Go a few thousand feet and they turn into dirt roads with nothing more than maybe a radio or utility tower nearby.

South of the 10: Gold Nugget Rd, Ramsey Mine Rd
    North of 10: Harquahala Rd

Im wondering whats the legality if i just drive a few miles off the highway, find a secluded area, and go nuts for a couple hours. Of course clean up everything before i leave, sound good?

Merchant is a pretty nice place, I've visited it a few times with my friend who lives in tempe. He prefers it over C2.

Out of curiosity, what's fucked up about tombstone? I was visited their north phoenix location once and it seemed alright, but that was also a year ago while we were visiting the area on a long weekend.

Its hard to find a spot out here, for Ben avery to be worth it you need a shooting club. Either that or the limit is 200 yards.

I took a sniper class at cowtown, great place goes out to 1000 but be prepared to walk up and down hill to check your targets. I have been wanting to rent there ranges for a while, but no time. Its been like two years since I have exercised my long range stuff.

I would love to find a 500 meter stretch of flat desert to shoot on.

Look on the calendar for Ben Avery, there are regular times at least through the cooler months that the 1000 yards range is available. Before my work schedule shifted I was going out there every week. It's an hour drive for me, but a lot better than Rio Salado which is 10 minutes away.
