How do you keep your engine bay so clean I feel like mine is instantly dirty after I wash it

The down side is needing to cut the grill though.

Looks good! Where are you putting your compressor?

I'm still kind of on the fence about the one piece headlights. Seems like they have a few issues with output and pattern on top of the sealing problems. But maybe if you knew you were gonna retro them, you could seal them up better as part of that process. They definitely look tons better.
My plan is to do dual batteries in the cab behind the passenger seat. I want to build a platform for them, along with the fuse blocks, ACR, and all of that. Then I want to put the compressor where the stock battery used to be.

The dual setup is the next big project, but thankfully I can fab and wire most everything while I still use the stock electrical system. In fact, I was looking at routing options yesterday.

Yes you cut the grill. But honestly it's well worth it. I don't consider it a downside. Plus my grill has been through a lot more.

That reminds me, @cynicalrider, it looks almost certainly like I'm going to have to cut the bottom of my pretty new grille to fit a winch.

I still need to take a few more measurements, but it isn't looking like it can be avoided.

It's just a bead of silicone. But if it isn't worth it to you, don't do it. It's not like your running glass and jumping your truck :p

I'm still thinking about them, for sure! I REALLY dislike the side marker lights.

After hearing @alee891 rave about the performance of his retro setup, I'm thinking it might be a cool side project to retro a set of the one piece units and take my time doing it.

Retro's are really the way to go if you don't mind the cost. I wouldn't do it because I know I'll f them up with the first jump. It would be cool to see what you come up with

Yeah, the cost of retros is a tough one. I got everything for free (literally best deal ever), otherwise I'd likely do the one piece headlights like Ray. My corner lights have NEVER sat correctly and alway get knocked out a bit after a trail.

    Yeah.

I swear... Once I took those things out the first time, they never sat correctly again.

Lol have you not seen the banner? Or the videos? or the gifs?

@jubei777 I would definitely go one piece when you retrofit since you gotta open them up anyway. And I kinda knew I would need to cut the grill a little. I didn't want to but knew it was inevitable. Just sucks now that I have a nice one lol

I saw the video that the banner came from but that looked more like launch and slam.. wondering if he's hitting track jumps or something too.

Right? It's too bad, but it has to be done.

I'm hoping to pull the trigger on the winch this week, if possible. Otherwise the monies are gonna inevitably find their way to other things not truck related.

Nice! I would love a winch sooner rather than later but if I get an extra $500 saved it will be for a fridge for Moab.

Ray definitely had some skid plate assistance on launch, and that wasn't exactly a prepared jump and landing zone. But #BBR knows his truck better than anyone, and he sent that shit like a man.

As an aside, he's designing and fabbing his own rear link setup on that truck. So it'll be able to take a beating no problem once it's done.

That is, if his loser of a CAD designer ever gets his parts drawn up...

This is probably my last 'single guy' tax refund. Rather than being a responsible man, I'm spending it on truck parts.

    :p

Oh, and the fridge will be one of your fav mods if you pull it off. I love mine, even for overnights. Leaves the cooler for beers and bourbon!

Ummmm.... I don't know. What ever full throttle gets me when I hit the ramp. All or nothing.

I'm not even worried about it. It will be a few months before I have time for anything again. Seriously don't worry about it. Take care of your truck first.

Not a fan of having the batteries in your cab..

Potential projectile in crash/rollover (though a nice battery tray fixes that)

In the bed in front of the wheel wells would be better I think. I swear there is room under the bed as well in that spot but have never measured it out myself.

Plus I'd split the weight one per side to keep the weight even. Batteries aren't light. Haha

Definitely agree also batteries aren't exactly made with sunshine and rainbows.. if you were to crash/roll and one of them punctured that's a huge fire/burn/chemical health risk. They can be tucked away in the corners of the bed fairly easy that is what I currently do with with one
