I would trade my Tacoma & the 4Runner for a V8 in the 2011 Tacoma but the Tacoma would have to have up to date , Like lites in the glove box & center consule, 4wheel disc 18 inch tires....

I want a V-8 just for the amount of pulling I do. Crappy mpg when I pull. I put on an intake, headers and hi flow exhaust. Helps, but need a little more to make me happy.

Honestly, if they made a V8 that turned of 2 or 4 cylinders when not needed that would be awesome.

    • compact truck small enough to wheel, park, and just drive on a daily basis
    • more power for towing or wheeling/rock crawling than the V6
    • better fuel economy that the V6 if it can drop to a 4cycl at highway cruising speed

Now *THAT* would be great! Power of a V8, fuel economy of a 4 banger when you don't need the power.

I'm just saying, if people want a V8 in this little truck why not do it right? I mean, why should active fuel management cost so much? Some extra sensors (or maybe even what's already there), and some software.

Besides, I for one got the short bed to get the most compact, off-road capable package. Some oversized Ford or Chevy with an 8 ft box would have been unacceptable. Ford is doing the Raptor. Why can't Toyota do something similar with a Taco on steroids? :D

I mean really, how much do you think a V8 option would be. Look at a SR5 Tacoma 4x4, add a V8, similar to the 4Runner platform, adds maybe $2,000 to the sticker??? I'm not sure because we're all dreaming, but I would have checked that box for sure! Cheaper than adding the 7th injector Supercharger ($4,800.00-$6,000.00)!

True, like the 4runner added power seats to all V8's as standard. So who knows what crazy crap they would add!

i had a v8 4runner and loved it . gas milage was good . with the v8 you are not lugging as much as the v6 so u dont use as much gas as u would think. ur motor isnt laboring as hard as a v6 would. dont get me wrong my dc is a v6 but if v8 was a option i wouldnt have even gave it a second thought. just cause u got the extra hp doesnt meanu have to use it but its nice when u want it.

I bought a Tacoma for the gas mileage if they threw a v8 in, it would basically be a better built F-150. I'll stick with the v-6
