What wire gauge do you guys recommend for these if I have to run the length of the truck for a power source?

As stated in the main article, I recommend 4-gauge... but that's just me.

yes, I have done the mods
what enclosure is this and where did you source it? I think I might steal this idea. I want to get power to my bed, too, but have no cap and need to keep stuff out of the storage box.

if you have any questions, hit me up. I will try to help you as much as possible. This was by far the best thing I have done so far, I use the crap out of it when I am camping for my Bluetooth speaker and ipod. The cover kept all the snow and rain out of it all winter, and we had a record breaking winter this year with all the rain, and snow that fell.

I already have a 100 amp circuit breaker and Blue Seas fuse box on a Pelfrey Fuse plate under the hood.

What guage wire should I run from the Blue Seas to the panel in the rear?
I know the OP said 4 guage but he has the Blue Seas in the back.

What guage wire should I use to connect the four components in the panel?

Is the quality of the Powerwerx stuff worth the $70?

Found similar on Amazon for $29.99

Estimate the total amperage that will be required out of that panel. 5A or less, you can use 16AWG, for 10A you can use 12AWG, for 20A use 10AWG.

I Know this is an old thread so forgive me for the question. Do you think that there is enough space behind the cover for rocker switches? I want to use something like this under it.

    Great idea by the way!

Shouldn't be a problem mounting that panel.

If you look on the driver side frame rail top in the rear wheel well there is already a ground bolt there, Easy to get to with a wrench.

Great write up! I am building my exactly the same. Got the panel mounted on the cubby, the 4gauge wire ran as well. I used some non metallic conduit for the majority of the run as well just for more safety.

My panel came with fuses already on the switches which is nice.

Just waiting on the fuse block and breaker today.

Awesome! Years later and mine is still working well! Enjoy the convenience of 12v bed power.
