    That's the really stupid part they hired an unskilled laborer to do the sanding and stuff but instead had me do it while I had 3 months worth of metal work waiting. 1 slip with the sanderand ripped apart everything that had been fixed.

    Ok, finally made it home. The rear bumper lights weren't bad. I climbed under the truck and located the braceing and measured just how big of an area I had to deal with. I looked from the bottom of the bumper and used a sharpie to mark the center line of this area on the exterior of the bumper. Measured just how big of a hole I needed for the light to slip in, squared it off on the exterior , and cut with a cut off wheel on a die grinder. I slid the lights in place and marked the bolt holes then drilled. Installing the bolts is a little tricky as it's tight on the back side of the bumper. I had to trim off excess on 1 bolt per side to clear the bracing. If your looking at the Demello bumper you could still do this until you get it maybe just wire the lights with deutsch connectors so you can remove and reinstall in a new bumper.



    Funny this is one of the things I was having to fab rt before the operation with 1 arm, no break, just a hammer, cutoff tool, dollies, and a welder

    Thanks for the pics! Going to go home and probe around... I think my backup lights are smaller, so they should fit. I just weenied out. Part of me was thinking i might sell the rear to help pay for a new bumper but everyone is months out on delivery, so i may just go for it.

    Now... WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING???

    It's one of the fenders on a mobile loung (people mover). I work at a major airport we are the only one that has them and the parts hane to be hand built since they were originally made in 1962. Everything is hand formed and as you can see compound curves are no fun. 2-3 sheets of steel in each fender. They won't buy me any shaping tools

    Ooof. I sort of started actively trying NOT to think about how much time i spent on it. BUT, that said, making another would be way eaiser now that i figured it all out. (I had some pretty misguided ideas starting out) If you were going to do everything by hand I think it would take 8-12 hours to do a one off if i wrote up some good instructions and sent my pattern... Significant time would be saved if you had the frame and panel nc-cut. (waterjet?) Panel design is somewhat dependent on what kind of brake you have access to...

    You should seriously look into exactly how much it would cost to have the various panels water cut in bulk, and how long to weld it together yourself (or sell a DIY kit) and make some money off these. If you only sold them in group buys with committed buyers, you're not out of pocket anything. I would happily pay for one of these if the price was somewhat reasonable (sub $250?). Just food for thought if you wanted to make some cash.

    Ah, thanks guys but i am not your man. I'm happy to share info with a hungry entrepreneur, (know anyone? hint hint?) but i've already got too many projects. Gut tells me that anyone who wanted to make these would need to charge over $250, but that would depend on what they feel their time is worth. Seriously, though, someone SHOULD make these! Totally modular too - whoever does it could sell a few different face plates - din/dbl din, different switch layouts....

    I sold a little product myself a long time ago -- a light bar for BMW motorcycles, and it was a blast, but this kind of activity doesn't fit in my life anymore. I ended up giving the design to my buddy at touratechusa who made them for a little while longer.

    I don't have the access or skills to pay the bills when it comes to fabrication, so I'm not your man. Another option would be to make and sell them to order, but charge an exorbitant so that people are way less likely to buy them :D
