ETxTacoma's Dynatrac ProRock 60 Rear Build and BS Thread

Ha! It's really an all or nothing proposition.

 

This story starts back around January or so if I recall correctly. A friend of mine tagged me in a post on Instagram about a giveaway from Dynatrac for a ProRock 60 Tacoma Builder's Kit Axle... I went ahead and entered because why not.

Fast forward to May 11... I get this email...


So the past couple of weeks have been some back and forth emailing with Dynatrac and the Marketing people for them to figure everything out and so forth along with talking to a few people on the best route to go with this in the long run...

Now fast forward to today... Order placed today with Dynatrac for the other components of this setup and for them to set it up for me. Depending on how long it takes to build, should hopefully be installed by July or first of August to be able to test out in Tennessee!

• High-pinion ProRock 60 housing
• High-strength 35-spline axleshafts compared to the stock 30-spline shafts
• 9.75-inch ring gear compared to the stock 8.0-inch ring gear
• Axle tubes have 0.3125-inch wall thickness compared to 0.200-inch from the factory
• Pro Series™ differential cover

Locker

ARB Air Compressor Mounted in Engine Bay for Locker and Airing Up, will use a Slee Mount

Gearing
4.56 Gears from either CHA Industries or Dana Spicer - Depends on who has it in stock for Dynatrac

The ProRock 60 will come assembled by Dynatrac with the Gears and Locker installed, all I will need to do is do Wheel Bearings, swap over a few things, and potentially shorten my drive shaft.

Misc
- U-Bolt Flip Kit by Wheelers with Upgraded Bump Stops - Not Ordered Yet
- Extended Brake Lines - Sitting at my House
- Will also look at getting a Bussman RTMR Setup to replace current wiring setup to make install of air compressor and more down the road easier.
- Potentially Sell OME Rear Shocks and Upgrade to Kings
- Potentially Selling Current Tires and going with 35s

Will need to do the front gearing as well, but that will be done later in the summer before my trip to Tennessee for the Appalachian Toyota Round Up so that I can actually use 4x4...

I bet you are! Have to decide if I want to tackle this install in my driveway or find some place that will let me use a lift.

You don't need a lift for an axle. I'll do mine in the driveway because that's where my beer is at.

 

Nice truck! i just happened to find your build on the front page today and noticed that you're from tyler texas. nice place to live! at the begining of the year my old lady was living there for 3 months and i was there every weekend. i had a blast going up there. kinda wish i had a reason to go back
