Why don't you go to the dealer and have it looked at before jumping the gun and going all gung ho on selling the truck. If you say your struggling on hills and other 3rd gen owners aren't I feel like the natural thought it hmm maybe I need to have it looked at...

He has a manual so slowing down and struggling on hills is his fault for not knowing when to shift not the trucks.

Plus his post history conflicts pretty much everything he's posted in this thread about mileage.

If the OP goes to the dealer, there's a good chance his Tacoma is confiscated for the rear diff recall.

I get about 14 around town with some large hills, 17-18 city and 20-22 on the highway. Best i have gotten was 26 on a 2 hour road trip which was mostly down hill. Remember the EPA rating for city is not around town with traffic lights, its for an urban highway which may have traffic and more braking/acceleration points vs cruising at the same speed for 3 hours. And neither rating accounts for hills which put a good ding on any cars mpg.

or it just not broke in yet. I get 18-19 in my Gen2 at 75-80 on the hwy. My next truck will be a Tundra but I think I will test drive a Gen3 just to see if they are as bad as everyone says. Hopefully the sales dude does not remember that I told him I would not touch a gen3 with a 10' pole

dude. Those MPG numbers are basically me driving way below speed limit and upshifting to where I am cruising at 1.5K RPM. That's not fun at all. Like I said before. It is stressful driving that way.

I thought I would continue to get numbers like that, but I haven't...

I definitely have a 3rd gen, and I am a Toyota fan boy..... However, I am having mixed feelings about the truck. It looks great inside and out. However,

    1) the engine just feels boring to me even compared to my old 2007 4cyl MT, and it's inefficient
    2) While nothing has happened to my truck, it appears that the 3rd gen Tacoma has a whole bunch of problems based on Tacoma World and Consumer reports.

I am 35 years old. I lived a Square life with a MT 4cyl Tacoma for 10 years. I got a 2017 V6 OR MT because I wanted a new Toyota Truck but I wanted something badass.

The 2nd Gen V6 is badass and can be modded into something even better.

Says you. I've got a '16 TRD Sport DCSB MT and besides the rear howl at 55 mph, I've had no other issues. It's been a great truck and my average mileage is 19-20 mpg. I've got 25,000 miles on it. Tacomaworld is where everyone goes with their complaints and issues. Maybe less than 1% of Tacoma owners visits this site. There's plenty of people out there that are satisfied with their trucks that aren't on the website.

Same here, and the truck has enough power if you put your foot into it and get the revs up and get it out of the Atkins cycle.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

Who likes having something that gets panned by journalists (consumer reports etc.) and consumers (Tacoma World)?

I feel like I bought a piece of junk, but I didn't feel the need to do any sort of research before I bought it because it's a Toyota and I have been owning and driving Toyotas for 15 years (I am 35 years old!!).

I need to get back to work. I am out!

every one of your "legendary" cars were underpowered turds. You drive a sub 300hp 5K pound truck. who fucking cares.

You researched it so much but didnt spend anytime driving it before buying? I mean come on, 2 minutes in it and you could tell the shit youre crying about. You expected a raptor, but bought a tacoma. Also what milage you get is irrelevant as we know NOTHING about your habits, terrain, distance etc. I have bumpers, skids, sliders, spare swing out, hitch and roof tent and get 14.3 average with 33's. So youre doing something wrong.

god you guys are worse than the vw crowd crying about shit.

That's what I'm thinking is the 3.5L v6 from the 6 cylinder Camry or is it from the Toyota Highlander?

Toyota should have used the 4.0L v6 from the 5th gen 4Runner but the toyota engineers probably didn't want to use an outdated engine.

    1) I didn't research the car before I bought it because I have driven toyota's my whole. I started to research it after I bought because I read Tacoma World, and I was shocked to see all this negativity.
