    Aw shit!

    :infantry:

Once I get my skids back from PC, I am good to go! Can't wait.

I'd be down to head up that way and check out some trails if you're willing.

Dude. It's mostly for the prep. I can wail on those fuckers all day and then spend time priming and coating them. Or I can hand the oily, rusted shits to the PC guy with some dollars and have him hand me back coated skids.

My money or my time; and in this case, my time is worth more doing other things.

    :D

Ah I see that makes sense. I guess I just get bored and start drinking and knock it out. Gives me something to do on a Friday or Saturday night. :drunk:

I'm late to the winch conversation but I also have a 9.5 winch that barely fits in my Addicted plate bumper with no modifications. It wasn't too hard to relocate the solenoid under the hood but I upped the wire size from the solenoid to the winch to 1/0 welding wire. I also relocated the remote plug in and paralleled a kill switch combo in cab which is super convenient.

But they're going to get scratched anyway. At that point you'll be hitting it with a spray can to cover rust/blemishes. Do as you will, it's your money

Rustoleum is your friend. Shit takes 15 minutes to dry. I painted both my IFS and belly skid in about 2 hours tops.

Plus PC on something that just gonna be beaten up is waste of money in my eyes.

    I get it, gents.

If I have the time and I'm feeling especially masochistic, I'll do the prep and paint myself. But I loathe paint prep even more than painting. I'm looking into just having them media blasted and then I'll spray them.

    We'll see.

PC skids is not a bad idea at all. It makes sure the back side never flakes or chips. Touching up the bottom is easy.

Also dupilcolor blue can bed coating is way freaking better then rustoleum shit.

Thanks for the input, Monte. I'll look into the Duplicolor and add that to my list of possibilities.

Are you in SoCal for good now, or has that not happened yet?

I get the part about having them clean it all up so that makes sense. Just do it once wheeling season is over and bam you have basically a new skid (if it's not too bashed up)

Well, if I never wheel the truck, then they'll always be brand new, right?!

Sorry for the roast, Jason haha.

And I swear to God, Monte feeds off playing devils advocate. Leave it to him to find some practicality in PC skids.

Haha! It's all good, fellas! I made a build thread in large part to get input, so keep it coming.

It really does just boil down to the prep work. I know I'm being a bitch, but I'd just rather spend my truck time doing other things. So if it isn't too pricey to have them blasted, I'll do that and then spray them myself.

Nope still in wyo and working in Montana for the summer! Thank god.

    :stirthepot:

But seriously. Having painted my armor multiple times. I can see the appeal of pc it all and touching up later.

    This build sucks.

    You're doing it all wrong.

Shouldn't you be done by now?

    Needs more spray paint.

    Your truck's too clean.

Don't you ever wheel this thing?

I'll trade you trucks, you could be wheeling tomorrow. As an added bonus, mine has lots of haphazardly applied spray paint. The armor has like 10 different coats in multiple different colors and textures. I use whatever color I find first for the skids being I know I'll scrape it off. Think there's some overspray on the body from painting the sliders too.
