I have a 2003 Tacoma Double Cab. When I press lock, all the doors lock but it is accompanied by a single beep. When I press unlock once, the drivers door unlocks with two beeps. A second press of unlock does the rest of the doors with another two beeps. I would love it if there was a way to customize the beeping and the lock/unlock function. I would like to keep the single beep on when the doors are locked, but have the truck unlock all the doors at the same time with a single push of the unlock button, and only have two beeps with that. Also, if there is a way to have the beep turned down in volume, that would be amazing. I hope this isn't too much to ask from a new member here, but this is the only thing that is annoying me about my taco... Hopefully you can help!

Check here.. you can customize how your keyless entry works
    http://www.trdoffroad.com/articles/keyless/index.php

As far as volume..the beep sound is emitted by a simple Piezo beeper, tucked in between the battery and the fender on the drivers side.. I guess you could manually adjust the volume by wrapping the speaker up in some more foam or something..but there's no way that i know of to electronically control the volume.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for that! I finally got around to doing it, I have been doing homework all day so it was nice to finally be able to go and do something that made sense and gave a satisfying result.

For anyone else who is interested, this is what you do to have a single press of the "unlock" button unlock all the doors:
    1. Get in truck, close door
    2. Put key in ignition (I started the truck and turned it off, don't know if that changes anything)
    3. Open door
    4. Remove key from ignition
    5. Insert key into ignition twice (In, Out, In, Out)
    6. Close the door twice (Close, Open, Close, Open)
    7. Insert key in and out of ignition once (In, Out)
    8. Close the door twice (Close, Open, Close, Open)
    9. Insert key into ignition but do not remove it
    10. Close the door
    11. Turn the key from lock to on 4 Times (Lock, On, Lock, On, Lock, On, Lock, On)
    12. Remove the key from ignition
At this point the locks will lock and unlock a number of times. Wait until they stop then
    13. Press and release both the "lock" and "unlock" buttons simultaneously
    14. Press and release the "unlock" button
    15. Open the door
Now check to see if a single press of "unlock" will unlock all the doors. If not, try again. I had to do this twice for it to work for me.

For the volume, I put some duct tape over the beeper and put a whole in the top, widening it until the volume was where I wanted it. I may remove this later if I get insecure about whether I am actually locking my doors.

Thank you again Jay W. for your help and I hope this helps anyone else interested in the same thing

To turn down the beep, just cover the hole on the piezo alarm with electrical tape. The piezo alarm is located just behind your battery. That's what I did. You can still hear it but it's not so loud now.:D

....now, if you don't want to hear the "chirp" at all, just unplug the piezo alarm. It has a connector that you can disconnect.

Not sure how your truck's alarm/keyless works, but on my '01 Tacoma, pressing the button once locks and unlocks the doors, but if you hold the button down (when unlocking) unlocks all the doors. If you press it quickly, it just unlocks the drivers door. Hold it down and it should unlock all the doors...

Who had time to figure this one out? I can just see some guy out in the garage late at night, slamming his door repeatedly, while his wife is yelling to come in.

"Just a minute, honey! I've almost got this!":D

LOL! No shit!:D My issue is I had a remote start put in. Now the horn beeps with lock/unlock and is alot louder than original beep. I will probably have to go back to the business that installed it and see if they can do something about it. I would love to go back to just the "quiet" beep. (leaving remote start installed of course).

Is the "volume" of your beep really that big of deal???

This is an old post, but includes the option of adding "ignition-engaged door lock function"...I don't remember where I found the instructions (but I wasn't the guy in his garage f'ing around with the door...see previous posts:D): http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...ntry-ignition-engaged-door-lock-function.html

Will this work for a newer Tacoma, 2009 maybe?
