I'd love to hear from some folks running 32.8/33 inch. I'm about to try cramming a 285/70r17 up there, guess I'll need to hammer some of the little holder plates, but a little concerned about the pumpkin and the exhaust.

There are a ton of threads on the matter for 2nd gen, which have basically the same setup back there, so I'm not totally worried. But boy is it close!

That's good to know, gives me hope. I was thinking it was really going to be a shot in the dark.

I fit my BFG A/T KO2 285/70/17 underneath but it was resting against the exhaust pipe. I had a muffler shop move the pipe over a couple inches so the tire will fit without touching the exhaust

I believe it was about $35, didn't take very long. They just cut the pipe after the muffler and bent the pipe to a better angle. Than they welded on new hangers .

I finally moved my 285/70r17 duratrac spare out of the bed.

    Good news:

The feet that people usually complain about didn't require any cutting or hammering, and the spare is almost an inch off the diff, so no problems there. I made sure to pull toward the bumper as I finished winching it up.

    Bad news:

Same story as @DarthMinnow , it is crammed tightly between the driver-side leaf bushing mount and the exhaust on the passenger-side. Definitely cannot be a medium/long-term solution without getting an exhaust reroute or chop.

I know people have run with theirs resting on the exhaust and it will eventually damage the tread in that spot, so if you're not worried too much about it then don't worry too much about it :)

You would run into the same problems as a stock exhaust since an aftermarket one uses the same hanger locations.

Is the hanger location the issue or the actual piping touching the tire? It's cold in the garage and I'm already in bed or I'd try to take a peek myself lol

It is the pipe location mainly. You just have to cut the pipe after the muffler. Than bend the pipe and weld it back on. The shop I did it all left about an inch between my 285/70/17 tire and the exhaust pipe.

what's everybody running as far as a wheel goes for their spare? I've got on offroad but switched to 285/70/17 my spare is on a 16" wheel. I'm trying to find a spare 17" so that i can run a full size spare underneath

That's something I forgot to consider. What size are you running and where do you keep it at? Do you have a rear bumper tire swingout set up or is it in stock location?
