I was looking at the fuel consumption ratings for the Tacoma Access Cab, 2.7 liter manual on both Canadian and American sites. I notice that the Canadian sites say that it's rated at 22.4/30.2 MPG City/Highway (converted from liters/100k), while the American site says 20/26. I'm wondering if there are mechanical differences that account for this? or if they're just tested differently?

Could that possibly be Imperial gallons? 1 Imperial gallon = 1.2009 US gallons. Just a guess because that would still be off.

That's what I thought at first, but the converter I used converts to US gallons. Tried a couple online converters, just to be sure.

Strange, considering many parts of the US have the same thin and cold air, heck I was in Illinois one winter and it was -30 celsius, back home it was +10.

It doesn't seem to affect it's horsepower or torque though. Can you order the part from the manufacturer?

Also worth noting that Canadian and US governments each do their own MPG surveys for vehicles. An example of how different the results can be from each of the different tests is evident with the recent switch by the EPA and the subsequent drop of all vehicle's MPG ratings in the US.

That's what I was wondering about also. Does anyone know what the Taco's rating was before the EPA changed the test?

It should be whatever the specs were for a year prior to the test change. I found this site which showed a review of a 2005. The specs show it at 22/28 mpg.

You should go back and check out that website again. You'll notice they also sell blinker fluid, muffler bearings, and drilled & slotted brake lines (to name a few). :D :p:p

I couldn't resist a little humor for the day. :D

eHh. remember the US went to real world mpg numbers with cars and trucks under loads, a/c on, etc about 2 years ago.
