Not sure. I'm not from Cali but used to fly out to Coronado a few times a quarter at my old command and loved to go out to for some authentic mexican. Jesse's is def on par with the average west coast mexican joint. Only thing I didn't care for was their "hot sause" wasn't hot enough for me.

My fiancés dad was stationed at Coronado and that's where I tried the best Mexican food I've had. Between food trucks and hole in the wall shacks where I'd have to get someone to translate. That's the only thing good about over there to me lol

We used to always go to this taco stand in imperial beach. Def some good food.

If you like indian, Rajput is pretty good. There's one in downtown Norfolk and a new one in Suffolk IIRC. There's also a banging indian restraunt in the little strip mall in Newport News. I've been meaning to go back there but I forgot the name.

Waterside Norfolk is opening up with some promising restraunts and bars. I've they are opening up a bar/restraunt that only serves locally brewed beers on tap. A few micro breweries around Va Beach, a few good ones up by chic's beach.

$9-$10 craft bottled beers at Waterside turned me off to it. I'd let the newness wear off for a while because it is slam packed on the weekends. Cool venue nonetheless.

Ouch, that could really put a dent in your pockets...

If you like BBQ, there are a lot of shit pits out there but by far some of the best brisket I've had in my life came from The BBQ Shack in Chesapeake. It's a tiny hole in the wall but definitely a must in your life time:

849 Old George Washington Hwy N, Chesapeake

The sauces were 'eeh'; a tad too sweet and the slaw was acceptable but the brisket is utterly amazing. I haven't tried anything else; brisket is all I order but allegedly everything is good there.

I know I am butting in mid convo here but just wanted to say hey and get into the group. I have had my Taco for going on 3 years and for what ever reason (probably due to a lot of laziness) it took me about that long to find this site!!

Pierces BBQ near Williamsburg is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Family joint that's been there since the 60's or 70's. If y'all get the chance to check it out you won't be disappointed.

Not too far from there is a Mexican restaurant off little creek called Degalado's or something. Right out of the Naval base Gate 1, next to an Italian restaurant. Also a good place with a killer California Burrito. For lesser humans, it could make two meals. I can kill one in 5 minutes.

hmm i'd have to try it some time. I'm just really biased, especially when you're from San Diego and Tijuana is literally 10 mins away from my parents house back home.

Ok, it might suck for you. It comes with tons of guac and sour cream and about twice the size of Jesses. No fries which I don't care for.
