Just purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRT 4 x 4 off-road. Mileage on first to tankfuls of fuel have given me an average of 24 and 25 miles per gallon (Canadian Gallon). This is mixed city and highway driving.
I noticed that this vehicle is reluctant to accelerate at an even rate. It seems very sluggish . At a certain point in the acceleration it seems to drop a couple of gears and accelerate quite aggressively .
Now to my query I notice a few references to transmission TSB's, but no actual copy of the TSB. Is there a site that one can go to to see if there are any TSB's that would be pertinent to my issue.

That's not TSB, that 3rd Gen Tacoma. Theres alot of sources on here about the Atkinson cycle. If you want it to move, you will have to push down on the pedal. But you'll never get that "boost" you want because Toyota didn't design it that way.

Normal complaint, the truck just has no low end torque, will stutter when pulling out into traffic at times and has a pretty hellacious kickdown delay. It is a frustrating motor and transmission for many. This is why so many people recommend getting the manual transmission. Or you can buy a bunch of aftermarket gizmos in hopes it does not void any type of warranty and that it actually does something to improve the feeling of driving behaviors.

. . . or use ECT/S-Mode and push the little pedal on the right, down.

It looks like no one had posted in this thread since June 1, 2017... and the OP had only made 2 posts and then went dark... making this a dead thread for at least 14 months.

But it's alive again now :D

Hey, I see you have a MT. Have you seen the "Software update for the Manuals" thread?

Nope sure haven't. Due for my 10k check and state inspection sticker, I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the heads up!:thumbsup:
