I had the same issue in my Taco. I was not wired for XM and did he upgrade after returning to an OEM stereo after having aftermarket head units.

My solution was to use this adapter: Sirius XM Radio FAKRA Antenna Adapter Connector Sirius XM Radio Factory Antenna Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083TX86S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vazMybZJA5H53

I used that to plug into the back of the '14 head unit. From there I was able to use my standard aftermarket magnetic XM antenna and BAM! XM radio again. It's been working well for 2 months now.

I have Nav in my 2013 Limited and I believe that is the HDD for the maps...interesting that your truck was "prewired" for Nav. You elected to install the 2014 unit with the maps on an SD card...good call. I'm trying to figure out how to remove my HDD so I can clone it and replace it with a solid-state drive.

    You lost me right there.

I own wrenches and power tools... but I do know how to turn on a computer.

FYI that is the TPMS module...turns out my 2013 does not have a hard disk as older models do...2014+ the maps are on a microSD card.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I just bought a used 2013 Tacoma and want to perform this stereo mod. It is not clear if I purchase a used unit does it need to come with the faceplate and mounting brackets? Or can I use my current ones? Thanks.

You can use your current one.

The faceplate usually comes with the unit.

I installed a 2015 into my 2006. It's plug an play. Pro tip: dont buy just the unit. Get the unit WITH the facepiece assembly. I could not find a afternarket facepiece that would fit. If you're crafty, you could probably dremel a double din faceplate to make it fit.
