I noticed it when I first picked up my truck. Don't really give a shit anymore since it really has zero impact on anything. Just doesn't bother me. Some people are nitpicky about every fucking thing.

If they can't put the correct amount of ATF oil in at the factory, do you really think they can do a proper recall? o_O:yay:

I must say the panic reactions this board has over recalls doesn't surprise me but I was hoping for better from Taco owners.

Relax, you'll get your notice and book it in when its convienient. Recalls/campaigns are normal for modern vehicles.

You don't complain every phone update, so relax when the manufacturer is trying to remedy a known issue.

:cheers:I agree, and you are correct to a point, but some people just like to know and share what's going on.

Love how Toyota waited over a year to get this resolved and admit the flaw. We knew it was going to be a fairly widespread problem just from the small sample size here having issues with them failing. Shit a lot of us went out and spent $100 to have a spare on hand just because we were worried this would leave us stranded on the side of a highway somewhere or out in the middle of BFE. Bullshit really.

I have a hard time relaxing when a critical part is defective on a brand new truck--don't want to be left stranded.

Recalls won't affect resale value much, if at all. I can't think of a single car that isn't affected by recalls and also I wouldn't want to buy a car knowing the company won't recall an issue. Be thankful these CPS are getting recalled instead of finding yourself stranded on a highway and having to eat the towing cost.

I believe they were probably doing a cost/benefit analysis on whether to come out with a nationwide recall (panic inducing) or a tsb/fixing them as they came in. Recalls do affect company image/reliability, and no recall is released lightly.

Interesting that it doesn't seem to be a problem with the sensor itself, but moreso how the sensor is calibrated to the crankshaft timing rotor.

    From NHSTA:
If I pay for needed repairs before a recall is ordered, am I entitled to reimbursement?
Yes, under certain conditions. Manufacturers are required to provide reimbursement for certain costs incurred by owners to remedy safety defect conditions prior to a recall. Vehicle manufacturers are required to reimburse owners for costs incurred to remedy a defect based on either (1) the date NHTSA opens its Engineering Analysis, or (2) one year prior to the manufacturer’s notification of a defect to NHTSA, whichever is earlier. The closing date of eligibility for reimbursement of repair of a motor vehicle is 10 days after the manufacturer mails the last of the owner notices informing owners of a safety defect recall and cost-free remedy. For replacement of equipment, the closing date is either the same as for motor vehicles or 30 days after the manufacturer’s closing of its efforts to provide public notice of the existence of a defect, whichever is later. Documentation of the costs is required for reimbursement. While the current reimbursement policy is a relatively new requirement, manufacturers have in the past often voluntarily agreed to absorb such costs, provided customers could prove the pre-recall repairs remedied the defect in question.
