Installed mine today. Love how it looks. Added the extra foam sealant on the rails, added tailgate weatherstripping, and sealed the fold seams.

It's dry here today (finally) so I'll report back after some wet weather testing.

Question: I haven't installed the drain tubes yet. I'd rather go out the side of the bed as a few others have done.

What's the process for doing it this way? I know I'll be cutting through the black plastic material, but is there metal to be cut through behind that as well?

Also, what's the best way to use barbs/fittings for the black tubing? I don't want it to look half-assed. Thanks!

It's just the plastic to drill through. All I did was drill holes exactly big enough for the supplied tubes to slide through, no need for any fittings really.

So... much like what is posted on page 10, I'm going to drill my own hole and install out the side of the bed. But rather than going with all the various parts that were listed in that post, I found something of an "all in one" fitting that is curved to help promote drainage. I really like it. Came from Home Depot as well.

Same 1/2" inner diameter, but no need for the metal locking-ring as it has an o-ring, and it comes with the plastic locking ring that goes on the outer side of the bed. Get these and just add drain tube. Presto.

I'll be painting them the same Krylon "hammered black" color that I painted the metal attachment sliders that were in the tonneau kit. Should be pretty slick.

Finished. And while it may look a bit tight in the photos, there's plenty of clearance to still be able to use the tie-down points. Turned out exactly as I had hoped.

Don't know if anyone else's leaks like a siff mine is in the bed rail it goes under the gasket so I put black caulking right under so you cant see it but I only put it where there isn't any texture on the top of the rail hopefully it works

IMG_2398.jpg This is how I did my drain hoses. Used the brass fitting and caulked all the joints. Cut the tube a little shorter as well for a cleaner look

They sent me a brand new cover but I haven't put it on yet. I'm not a big fan of the cover at all. Kinda wanna get a canopy now. Doesn't look as sweet, but the utility is better for me.

I think I'm still considering this...

... or a rack down the line...

    ... or a cap...

Thanks for all your write-ups on this cover. I have re-read them multiple times. I just ordered an MX-4. I can't figure out what you mean by gasket and where the place to install it would be. Maybe if I had the cover in front of me, but I am just lost. Thanks!!

Looks great. I am about to do the same thing. The 1/2 elbow joint you added, you just push it into the hole you drilled and it's all good? Did you seal it? I guess I am wondering what keeps it tight. Thanks!!

Ya when you have the cover check out the pics I posted and it should make sense. Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions.

It's not really a gasket. It's weather stripping that sits on top of the rail behind the cab. I recommend also running a bead of black RTV sealant under the rails where they will sit.

You don't need to use rtv under the rails, you can use gasket/weather stripping per my write up in this thread and you won't have a mess on your bed rail if/when you remove the rails later down the road...

Thanks. I'm good with the sealant. Seems like sealant is more idiot proof. I'm in that category. No plans on removing the bed cover. Still great write ups man. You've helped lots of people !!
