I never noticed an increase in noise.

Then again I have Duratracs so any extra noise is cancelled out/overcome by tire noise.

Question for anyone in the industry or has been through my situation.. Recently my canopy was broken into via the rear frameless hatch. In doing so the criminal smashed the window, stole a bag, and rode away (I actually passed by the guy but didn't know he was the violator..). Fast forward a week and my insurance adjuster takes note of the damages (no mention of damage to the shell). The part is purchased through the canopy shop I bought it from (PM me if your in the PNW area shopping for shells and I'll tell you where not to go). Today I have said part installed, pay them out of pocket since they doesn't work with insurance co's, and thank them for their job. As I leave, the owner offers me a bottle of touch up paint, I thought that was odd due to their not being any damage. Curious enough I take a look and see noticeable chips out of the paint, specific to the area that the glass would be installed. Their reasoning is that when a window like that is broken the shattered glass commonly chips away paint. Considering the deflection points and safety glass, this seems highly suspect.. They're positive it was not the result of installation and refuse to repair it.

Here comes the question, are they right? Another canopy store agrees with me. What say you??

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I have a Leer 100XL Camper Shell. One side of the rear window "pops" open on the latch, like if I pull on the window slightly with my hand it will come open. I have no idea what that part is called (latch? hook?) so I don't know where to find a fix for it. The passenger side will pop open with more force, and I've actually had the window pop completely open on a rough pothole on the road...how do I prevent this or what do I replace?

For now, to explain where I'm talking about....

In this picture from Google where it says "Rotary Latch System" is where the latch is failing. If I put any slight pressure by pulling on the window from the outside it will pop free there.

For clarification, are you speaking of the latch that appears gold in this picture?

Hmm initially I was thinking that you could just get a replacement latch, but upon looking at it you might need to actually replace the whole rod assembly from the center lock to the latch.

When you twist the lock does it keep tension on the latch?

I had this problem from day 1. I hate these slam latch systems. I adjusted the "D" bracket that's on the actual cap (no simple task honestly) and it helped for about a year. now its starting to do it again. I would kill to have the manual twist latch that has actual metal rods locking the window in place.

What do you mean by your question? I can push the window closed and it latches, and I can turn the lock and it unlatches. It also unlatches without turning the lock on it's own if I hit a bump or slightly pull on the window (I'll shoot a video later)

I have the similar system on my Leer, but with cables, not rods.

However, that said, I tuned up my latching system and learned quite a bit.

I think yours may not be locking in the first place on that side. After you close it, have you tried pushing in on just that side to see if it goes a little more and clicks? If not, try adjust the D-ring stop outward (toward the rear of the truck) a tiny bit and test again until it clicks (locks)

yea, the problem with mine was that the latch mechanism couldn't close fully until the "D" ring that it latches onto was situated perfectly.

mines the same as yours. testy little buggars. the latches are just so sensitive (bad for if you sleep in the truck or have something bump that cable, like a dog)

That's how I noticed the issue first, I went out to the truck after driving it and that looked to be sitting out too far so I pushed on it and it clicked "latched" again. When I close the window it does it first time, but it will almost always pop back open.
