Tapered 6x leader to 6x tippet with 6x to the dropper. I could have played it in if the fly line hadn't wrapped around my finger. Just a stupid freak thing I guess.

Well fellas I've been pinching my pennies in order to lift my truck. However, I went into the fly shop this afternoon and saw a 7'9" 4wt Sage Circa on the clearance rack for half-price. It turns out that I have no self-control when it comes to fishing equipment and I am now going home with a new fly rod in my hand. I guess those Bilstein 5100s are going to have to wait.

Truck will get you to the water with out the 5100's. But you have a new fly rod , it's a win.

Thanks, I will look into those. Last night I ordered some Maxima Chameleon in various sizes, Cortland indicator mono, tippet rings, and some 5x fluorocarbon to make some leaders.

The same shit everyone else has.
I make all my own furled leaders. Ive been for about a year now. Theyre super easy once you figure it out. Its a huge plus being able to tweak them to exactly what I need .

I'm not planning on making a furled leader, but I might try out one using some of the stuff I ordered. I'm making European nymph leaders (I think anyway). All it will be is about 12-15' of 20lb mono, 5-7' of 15lb mono, 18-24" of indicator mono, a tippet ring, then a few feet of fluorocarbon and a dropper.

Things happen. Might take a while though to net a 20" trout on a 6x tippet. Was it a rainbow? Those know how to fight..

Yea it was a rainbow. I typically keep 6x on because the water is usually crystal clear and the fish won't hit with anything much bigger. I've landed my share of 20"+ fish on it. Just have to play them and tire them out. A lot easier with a partner to net it for you..,I was riding solo yesterday

My wife and I just came back from another few days away at a couple interior lakes after spending 5 days in the Cariboo the previous weekend. We fished 5 different lakes in the past 2 weeks with mixed results. Biggest Rainbow Trout was just under 6 lbs which was decent, but no trophies this time.

Here are a few photos from the recent trips and I figured I should throw in a couple of the Taco.

Nice fish! What lake is it, if you do not mind me asking?

Going to Tunkwa on Sunday for 3 days.

We fished Roche this week but only the photo of the glass worms were taken there, so fishing was tough the past few days. The other photos are from a few smaller lakes in the area and up in the Cariboo that I typically don't name. Tunkwa should be fishing decent right now and we typically try to go there July/Aug and try to hit the bomber hatch if we can.

    Good luck on your trip!

Thank you IMB, will need it - last time I was there there was a windstorm and my boat was dragged with both anchors at the speed of a zombie walking. That was a challenging fishing to say the least. Hopefully this time around it will be better.

    Cheers.

Rofl... They don't call it "Big Wind" for nothing! I have had a few days like that on that lake. Can be a challenge as there really anywhere you can hide out of the wind.

Anyone use korker wading boots? Opinions on them and the interchangeable soles? My Patagonia's are wearing out and I'd like more traction than they provide even with alumibite cleats. Korker is at the top of my list.

My dads pair broke the second time he wore them. The back part where the little interchangeable sole locks in is very easy to break off on rocks. And depending on where you fish, just get straight felt. Can't beat it.

Someone just pointed these out to me yesterday. The rear entry is interesting (that's what she said?). Seems like there would be less pressure on the Boas when you go to bend down, which seems to be what ends up snapping them.

Never tried them but I think I saw some on clearance on FishUSA when I was shopping for leader stuff
Edit: Nevermind, they are only size 8 and that particular boot doesn't have great reviews. https://www.fishusa.com/product/Korkers-KGB-Wading-Boot--Vibram-Idro-GripStudded-Idro-Grip

I haaaaate felt. It does nothing for me on the slick ass rocks around here. I've got the rubber bottom with metal studs. Never used the interchangeable soles, but I've never had a problem with these

I do. And not the most expensive model too - http://www.korkers.com/footwear/fishing/redside.html

To answer your question - this is my second pair, and I have zero problems with them. Great boots, convenient option with sole change. Now, I mostly use felts but from time to time it is nice to be able to put the rubber on. Oh and the first pair - my better half put them (and her's too btw) in a black garbage bag by the back door.. Needless to say I tossed the bag. Crap happens.
