I know a lot gets made out of these recalls.....but to me this seems pretty par for the course when buying a new vehicle in my experience.

Literally every vehicle I have bought has had multiple recalls. My Nissan Xterra had 3 ranging from a shaky steering wheel to a cracked manifold that needed to be replaced. My old Ford Explorer had a leaking fuel pump as well as a brake system recall.

So far I have been fortunate to avoid any recalls or problems on my Tacoma but glad to see Toyota making the announcement and repairs when it needs to be done.

I don't mind them fixing the problems. That's awesome. I just want to get the big issues fixed. Like a howling differential and craptronic tranny.

It's also frustrating that it's seemingly illogical how they are executing the recalls. The OR models have been exempt from both it seems: I'd be surprised if they used a different CPS for them than the rest of the fleet. It's the same engine.

Excessive anti-corrosion coating eh? I wish Toyota did that on their frames.

I am now 2 for 2 with safety recalls on my 2016 TACO. Truck has been in the shop now nearly 30 days (Diff Leak). Looking at exercising my refund rights under the Florida Lemon Law. I've owned 8 new vehicles and 10 used vehicles over the course of the last 40 years and have never seen a differential leak or had a safety recall, let alone 2 in 2 months. This is my 1st and last Taco.

Does anyone have intel on the Honda Ridgeline? I never did need the robust capabilities of the Taco just the utility of being able to haul stuff.

Yes! I get to take my truck to the dealer so they can play with it!!!! Fuck while they're at it they can look at my SQUEAKY leaf springs. Hate driving a new truck and feel like it's an old ass beater by how much it squeaks.

17 sport, DC MT, Texas built 10-3-16, according to My Toyota app, no open recalls.
I was concerned I would be on the CPS list as its for 16&17s and I have an earlier built 17. But 32k seems to be a rather small number affected.

I am glad to see yota addressing this, just wonder if those that had issues with their CPS because of the same reason or was it something else?

Made the list. 16000 miles so far and no issues other than shifting and TSB Rev 1 took care of that. Going to hold out until I go in for 2 yr. service - unless it takes a dump.

Then it's even more odd how they are deciding. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that they have this sorted out, but they have been "normal characteristics"-ing me for too long.

They normally produce big batches of parts per order. Or it just took a while for Toyota to figure out something was out of spec or design flaw.

How many guys bought a (spare) cps thinking this will take care of the issue when they just bought another one of the recalled parts?

You're not understanding how the assembly and parts process works. The supplier for Toyota produces X amount of Crank positioning sensors for Toyota. Each is produced in a batch. They all have lot codes and Toyota knows exactly the time they were produced, and when and where each sensor was installed and on what vehicle from the factory. Once they found and figured out the problem, they pull the batch info and it can tell them exactly what sensors in what trucks were effected.

Now during assent they produce all different versions and configurations of tacomas at once. There isn't a special line for OR's, sports, pro's ect. They could build a access cab SR and the next truck on the same line could be a crew limited. Eachs trucks parts are ready in a line as per the build sheets/data or whatever. Now the CPS sensor is the same in all models so a SR gets the same one as a sport, limited, OR, SR5. So under that recall will be all trims of tacomas. Not just sports and other models.

The diffs are a little different as the OR has a different diff than some of the other models.
