jacobrippey's 1995 V6 Swapped Tacoma single cab build

Update: since starting the truck for the first time a few Weeks ago, I've put just over 1,000 miles on her. The power steering has been fixed and the exhaust welded on (still a decent exhaust leak). Still haven't gotten around to fixing the a/c, heater, or speedometer. The odometer seems to be working fine, and the last fill up averaged 20mpg. I don't know how.

 

My average mpg is 20 or so with the supercharger with v6, is normal

 

My surprise comes in that I averaged 20 with my 4 cylinder.

 

That's because with the 4 cylinder you have to floor it all the time and the v6 you don't. My last tank was 22 mpg

 

Totally. My previous S/C 3.4 got better mpg than my current 4 cylinder when it was all motor. And uses the same amount of oil for changes. Made me wonder sometimes what was the point of the 2.7

You're right about that. When I have to overtake someone I have to literally hit the pedal to the metal to make any distance.

 

Hey, OP, great work. I'm planning a 3.4 swap in my 96 5 Lug.

Since your truck is a 3.4 now, what are you doing for an EVAP box. Your truck had a round can to start with right? What did the donor truck come with?

 

Had to swap in ALL of the original v6 emissions equipment. I'd highly recommend getting a full donor truck if the budget allows.

 

I've got so many spare parts left over from different things that I've got a donor in my shed.

Did you have to add any hoses to the older EVAP stuff.

 

Nope. I had to reroute some stuff, but everything worked pretty well.

 

Is this gonna be a legal swap? Is Colorado one of those super anal states like CA?

 

Looks like it will be inspected by the emissions place. I called ahead. They said that as long as the emissions equipment is the same as the 96 v6, I will be fine. Both fingers crossed. It's still registered in AZ, so I'll have it inspected in Octoberish.

 

Nice. I think here in CA you even have to use the same transmission and exhaust manifolds that came with the engine... and the ECU of course

 

Luckily, the v6 and 4 cyl have different trannies. I legit swapped everything over. Only thing that stayed was the cat and fuel tank.

 

Update: fixed the transmission leak, o2 sensor, and a broken window switch. Almost good as new.

 

I also think the engine has to the same year or newer
